Not very well versed on things in Belfast but keep thinking someone will pull out today or block it from happening

Hopefully they dont and the politicians get back to what they're paid to do and the ordinary workers get their pay rises for a start

I'm glad that our institutions have finally been restored. What I'd really love is a moderate, progressive unionist beside Michelle in the deputy seat. Perhaps then we might be better placed to crawl our way out of the dark ages.

That's my fear too. There's talk of protests etc but hopefully it'll come to nothing

The potential protests are being stirred by a very small minority who don’t really matter in the wider scheme of things.

We seemed to be transfixed on objection politics rather than progressive politics

I’m a stones throw from the border and pretty a political when it comes to parties but I do hope she is given the fair chance that the peace process was meant to accommodate.

Belfast

There was a list doing the rounds on Thursday of all the roads that were going to be blocked yesterday by protesters.

I was all over Belfast yesterday and didn't see any issues at all so a lot of it is just scaremongering.

Thats interesting,

Any idea how she ended up in NI politics coming from Fermoy.

Then hardcore DUP must be loosing

Their shit today.

Tyrone man and I'm only now realising that Michelle O'Neill is originally from Fermoy. But that accent is 100% East Tyrone

Good morning everybody.

Yes a VERY historical day for the North & not just for Michelle. Ya, it's hard to believe that she's originally from the south. When you hear her talking. Some BOI must have put a spell on her, when she was younger.

Hopefully everybody enjoys there day ahead. Whatever activities they're up to.

I agree totally but unfortunately there seems to be a serious lack of those around.

Its a shame that websites of the main newspapers do not lead with this story, says a lot about the mindset of MSM.

On a personal note, my father was a Southern Nationalist and my Father in Law was an Orangeman (Fermanagh), I feel they both would be happy today.

I hope is works out for everyone involved

Co. Cork

More achieved for Irish unity in the Stade Vélodrome last night by players representing "Ireland" than will ever be done by selfserving politicians. Politics by it's very nature will always nurture division rather than create unity.

Proud patriots without the petty political posturing.

Unity of purpose eliminates division to the benefit of all.

I've heard it rumoured that it is suppose to be Emma Pengelly Little. I don't know really anything about her. Delighted to see the executive p and running again.

This 100%

I've never bought an Ireland soccer jersey because of the division but I must have at least 15 Ireland Rugby jerseys because of the joined up thinking of the sport, amongst other reasons.

My Dad was a Tyrone man and my Mum a southerner so I've always believed in unity, peacefully
