i travel all over

I was thinking last week about how many really good songs there are in the charts . Yesterday I spotted 5 amazing sounding current films I need to find time to watch somehow . And yet I tend to socialise with people who tend to pine somewhat for days gone by both artistically and culturally (when men were men , men are meat , blah blah).

Is this a nostalgia tinted glasses thing? I mean days gone by involved Jim Davidson and Roy chubby brown being accepted . Sinatra threatening Sinead O’Connor being accepted. The good old day were actually crap , right ?

Valley of Squinting Windows

Idk, it seems to me that people are always coming up with new ways to be shitty to each other

I think we have lived during an amazing time. Men have always been cruel wars etc so I’m not ignoring that, but just what has happened, our ability to travel the world, stay connected to each other, an encyclopaedia in our arse pocket, medical advances. Every generation has challenges but in general I think we have and are living through the best of times.

One of the things I loved about the movie aftersun is the idea that sometimes you need to consider whether you’re experiencing the best of times and cherish them. Real positives you take for granted as a given May not last

Hereabouts

Some people dislike change and haven't the interest or curiousity to learn new things, or learn about new things. This becomes more engrained with age and so the past becomes the comfort zone, the good old days.

I'm very conscious of my good fortune, not least because there are so many people in the world who are less fortunate than us on this island

I think the world is a shitty place. Imagine how cool a place it would be if everyone was tolerant and nice to one another, if people didn't struggle for food and shelter. I know I'm idealising but it's seems the more we advance the crueler we get. It makes sad.
