Where did you visit Santa

Clerys for me.....still remember the excitement of the queue around the block and seeing all the window scenes ....little elves making all the toys ...polar bears and penguins dancing

We were so happy to see the big man face to face

Santa asking what you wanted ...the parents answering because they'd already saved up to buy us all our presents

Then the little present falling down the chimney to have the cheap wrapping paper torn off as quicky as possible and ushered out so the next lot come come in

So where did you go

Slide down into Santa's grotto.

Difficult job to wear the suit, beard and wig all day.....as I well know.

But creates fond memories for kids.

We went to our local supervalu. They used to have a small toy department so would set up a grotto there. Then they got rid of the toys and Santa never came back

Somewhere in Co. Down

Tesco's or Quinnsworth as it was called back then.Had to sit on his knee and he asked me for a kiss on his cheek which I didn't want to do as santa didn't smell good at all. And his beard was falling off. I remember refusing to kiss him and asking how was he the real Santa if his beard wasn't real and he wasn't too impressed and told me I wouldn't get any gifts if I asked Santa that. I was handed a present by one of his elves and headed off home happy I got out of giving him a kiss.

Went to clearys as a child too.. I remember the magic and the scenes as you went along the corridor in the queue on the way to see Santa..

it used to be cold too.. and we’d get to wear our Christmas coat and shoes just to see Santa.

My own daughter decided when she was small that she didn’t like Santa and wouldn’t go near him, present or not. So she never really went.

The sports and social club where my Dad worked, they organised a Christmas party for all the workers children and we met Santa there. The gifts were a1. It was so much fun. Really good memories

Clerys or Arnotts depending on the crowd. Mam would stand with us while the ould lad would go for pints. Bewley afterwards for dinner then back home on the train.Fond and happy memories of a happy childhood.

I think it was swizors excuses the spelling it was in grafton Street and I clearly remb going into the restaurant me and my brother was so excited.. Great memories .. can't remb the name of the shop

Funny you should say that, so many Santas 'arrived by helicopter one xmas' but I've still yet to speak to someone who actually witnessed it. Ha

Yes I know, it has happened many times. but I'd say it was one chopper owner blitzed the country one year and ever since all kids have rumoured about it happening again.
