How do you sleep at night

Jump to newest

The West

Literally.

I lie diagonally across the center of the bed with a hand in one corner and a foot in the other.

It takes me about thirty seconds to fall asleep and I never wake up.

If I have company I overheat instantly and will have half my body over the blankets at a minimum.

Somewhere in Co. Down

I tend to lie on my side and not move a lot when sleeping.

But my actual sleep pattern has gone to hell in the last year or so. I also like to have my room cold and even then I will often be too warm when I wake up.

The West

I bought a wool filled duvet a couple of years ago and it regulates my body temperature like nothing else I've found. I used to get night sweats and don't any more.

I also have an 11kg weighted blanket that I use occasionally if I really want deep relaxation in my sleep.

Hard to move when you are handcuffed to the headboard.

I average somewhere between 3 and 4 hours a night and wake at least 10 times every single night.

I fall asleep almost immediately but can't stay asleep and I'm up at 5.30 or before every single morning including weekends and holidays regardless of what time I go to bed.

South Down

Mostly on my left side on the right hand side of a double bed. I need the duvet over my top half but my legs and feet I prefer uncovered. I'll often have an arrangement of pillows between my knees (eases the pain from arthritis in my hips) and in front of my body supporting my right shoulder which I have an impingement in. Any attempt at turning over during the night is a full scale military operation

East / North, Cork

So we begin the night with the two of us in our super king sprawled out with me on my side with two supportive pillows. By midnight we will have one small child sneaking in the middle, by 2am there will be another. I am incessantly cuddled by one child or another which means I get too hot and give up and move to their room where I eventually get back to sleep approx 3am. I am joined by at least one if not two kids and I may have another hour or two if I'm lucky at which stage I am woken by a dog or cat wanting to be let outside at approx 6am. I then accidentally wake a child trying to go back for a quick nap who then loudly pesters me for my phone so they can watch loud annoying YouTube videos and they keep sneakily turn the volume back up on after I turn it down. This continues until 7 when I get up and go downstairs and drink strong coffee to get me through the day. Rinse and repeat.

On my right side on the right side of the bed, hot water bottle nestled around the tummy region and at the feet - apparently I don't move.

Himself - on his back, as soon as his head hits the pillow he's out cold and snoring loudly . He is very restless and the duvets end up all over the place, meaning I have to fix them when I wake up cold .

But I hate it when he's not there

On my right side and usually on the right hand side of the bed. As soon as my head hits the pillow I’m out like a light and a good 7 hours blissful sleep. Not much of a fidgeted either as I wake in roughly the same position as I fall asleep in.

Midlands

Sleep really well. Big Tshirt and jocks only. Sprawl out accross bed. Sleep on either side. If summer covered in a sheet. Winter a duvet. If company in bed I do bake n sweat like mad if I have anything heavy covering me.

Have a heater/cooler which keeps the temperature somewhat constant 17-19degrees.

Try to wind by not watching the news bullshite and put on something easygoing with not much thinking.

Bedtime ritual:

Magnesium L theorenate 2 grams 1 hour before bed. Camomile tea 1 hour before bed. Turn on heater/cooler just before bed. Ashwangaga 500mg before bed. Zzzzzz snore zzzzzz
