Far far away

I was watching the Taylor Swift documentary tonight and she mentioned about her battles with self image and weight.

Does your self image and external presentation match.

In my head, I'm 32 with a joie de vivre and a rocking body and still the youngster at work. The reality is 48, wrinkles and well my jeans need extraaaa lycra these days..

Do you have this conflict or it is just me...

No conflict at all ..I hated my younger self but looking back at pictures I should have been oozing confidence lol

But I found that confidence now and I look good for it

Alllllll the time. I'm fairly youthful in my outlook and my outward appearance, probably stuck somewhere in my late 30s, early 40s in my head. Then I catch my reflection in a mirror and I'm dragged back down to earth with a bang.

Sure you're as young as you feel ,reality in 58 but feel about 40 until my hips and knees remind me in not !

Wrinkles are laughter lines and I embrace them

Until I turned 50 I didn't have a self image or any confidence so despite the aches and illness now I'm happy just to have discovered both.

Happy with my self image, these days. Took me a while to get there but I look and feel good.

I’m 52.. I’ve been told I don’t look it which I’m happy about.. I don’t feel it in my head.

I’ve always had a confidence issue but recently I’ve gotten to a stage where I’m actually ok with how I look and if you don’t like me then meh..

I think I’m about 29-35 in my mind.. maybe that’s why I like the younger men.. or maybe I’m just taking their souls to stay young.. muhahha I am a redhead after all

My mental state got stuck in my 30's...but my body doesn't know it

Last couple of years, I have found out, that I do have to start looking after myself a bit more, unless I want to end up with big belly and saggy tits.

Wrinkles and remaining hair turning Grey, that's part of life and I am cool with that

Does anyone actually feel their age? I suspect most of us mentally still think we’re 10years younger (at least) and will never feel as old as we look until we end up with a hip replacement

My reflection in the mirror definitely doesn’t tie up with my mental image so I’m just going to avoid mirrors from now on

I'm the same.

My mental age is definitely younger than my physical age.

As I get older I care less what others think though so I'm pretty confident in myself.

I don't look my age and I know that so mirrors don't bother me anymore but in 2018 I was in a chatgroup with a man who was 55 on his profile but admitted to being 58.

He has left fab and/or been removed numerous times over the years and every time he returns with a new profile he has shaved a few years off.

His last profile had him as 50 when actually he is 63.

Despite the loss of hair and the addition of a few inches around the waist I have literally grown to accept the changes that the years have brought but I am also enjoying the confidence that age brings.

And yes OP, you certainly do not look your age, and as you are a non smoker I wouldn't dare blow smoke up your ass. I can think of much nicer things to do in that area.

I wish my self confidence wasn't so inextricably tied to my waistline but it is. It goes up and down. Or should I say in and out.

Oh no, you're not the only one. Mind you I'm probably at my fittest at this stage of my life which is great. Exercising, eating properly. Still, when I see a photo or video of myself I haven't taken or sometimes when I catch my reflection somewhere I'm like "Who the fuck is that?"

Age is only a number they say! Will agree with the other post, I'm now probably fitter than I ever was in my 20s or 30s. Think we hit an age were we say, ah here hang on a minute tine is going way too feckin fast and we try our best to slow it down by looking out for ourselves. Self care is important a d being conscious of how you look is no bad thing for both mind and body..... as long as it doesn't become an obsession of course

32 and feel the best I've ever felt, feel like I look better than I did in my late teens/20s but I think embracing life and getting to a point of not giving no f**ks about what anyone else thinks really helps that lol

I go though periods where my self image takes an absolute hammering. I don't ever think I've had an amazing self image, just times where It doesn't bother me. Lol
