Must pick it up. Anything by Jordan Peterson is gonna be a fantastic read.

He’s an outstanding psychologist.

Prob one of the greatest of this generation.

I saw a book in Cork : Foster's Book of Irish Murder.(but it didn't seem very Christmas-like, or too darkly humorous)

In Cold Blood by Truman Capote is also a good non-fiction novel about crime

The non-fiction I'm looking forward to this year is Dr Ali Fenwick's Red Flags, Green Flags: Modern psychology for everyday drama, which isn't a very rigorous psychological work, but is still interesting as a popular book. Unfortunately it's a pre-order book and won't be released until next spring.

The richest man in Babylon by George S. Colsen.

It starts out like an a financial advice book but there are many parables that be taken into other aspects of life. Other than that I read mostly history books and tbf you could possibly enjoy them too.

Thanks so much. Ive gone down the rabbit hole of Jordan Peterson at the moment. Most definitely controversial but hugely thought provoking.

Portlaoise

Conn Igglesdon has written some great fictional books about Gengis Khan and Julius Ceasar. Crime thrillers go for Michael Connolly books Bosch and Lincoln lawyer.

Harper Lees to kill a mockingbird

won a pullitzer and stands the test of time. Roddy Doyles Barry town trilogy is a great comical read which spawned the Commitments, the van and the snapper.
