Gods Own Country |
In the quiet halls of memory, we tread with solemn pace,
Through fields of poppies red and wide, we find a sacred space.
To honour those who gave their all, in lands both near and far,
Their legacy is in silent stone, beneath the morning star.
On this day of deep reflection, we remember every name,
Of those who served in duty's call, and those who bore the flame.
Their courage wrapped in the country's flag, with honour, they did stand,
A blank check paid, in full, they gave, for the love of home and land.
We stand in silent gratitude, for the peace they fought to save,
For every sunrise we behold, they've seen the darkest grave.
In their shadow, may we learn the cost of freedom's tender light,
And hold their memory ever close, as day gives way to night.
Lest we forget the price of peace, the weight of sacrifice,
On this Remembrance Day, we vow, that their legacy shall suffice.
To live with honour as they did, with kindness as our guide,
To cherish every heartbeat won, for which they fought and died.
We whisper 'thank you' to the winds, and to the heavens above,
For every veteran's steadfast heart, and their undying love.
In their honour, we must strive to make this world anew,
A place of peace where honour lives, brave and just and true.
So here's to our beloved vets, on this solemn Remembrance Day,
Your service is etched in history's books, in skies of sombre grey.
May we carry your spirit forward, and your valour never wane,
In the silent prayer of poppy fields, we'll remember you once again. |
