So am single a while now, and 99% mates are married,kids or have partner.

So my question is this.....as a single person, are you happy to do things alone....things like cinema, dinner out, holidays/nights away?

In the last year or so yea. Took me a while to decide that if I didn’t go do things I want to do by myself, I’d be waiting forever for someone to do them with me.

3 solo holidays abroad so far, plenty of solo adventures around Ireland and a few trips to the cinema. Don’t think I’d be arsed going out to eat by myself in Galway but happy enough to do it on holidays.

I discovered that I love holidaying alone and don’t mind eating alone on holidays. But usually when I eat out I like it being a shared experience. Same with the cinema, I like talking about it afterwards!

Although I'm very independent..a case of having to be....I've never embraced the whole week away solo as I know I'd be feeling pretty lonely. Definitely prefer sharing a holiday with some good company.

Quite happily eat out, have coffee, participate in crafting workshop etc etc on my own though.

Absolutely, it's freedom, independence, there's flexibility, options and it's innovative being contentedly single.

I get a lot of mail from attached guys married or in relationships and I just don't bother with them, being with someone who's solo too is a better vibe and there's no fucking around or sneaking around like a ninja on a mission and blowing your load and running out the door shitting yourself. Oh no I've done it again, or bisexual guys convincing themselves they're straight after an encounter with a guy, transexual or cross dressers. Driving home on the road of shame, poor bastards.

This lifestyle is quite intriguing and when one's free to come and go be spontaneous etc there's no emotional hangovers, anxiety or guilty conscience.

It's fun on the scene

No fucking interest in relationships myself, I'm too ferral, cannot adapt to being domesticated .

Despite my appearance and demeanor I'm old school I think honesty is the best policy, if you ain't happy in a relationship get the fuck out, or if you're unsure of a situation and deep down you want to swing from the chandeliers go for it....

There's a few things I don't like doing on my own if I'm out

I don't like restaurants but prefer eating in a pub in a hotel on my own

Holiday last year was on my own for a week but this year shared with someone for 4 days out of the week

I’ve gone on trips alone and do things like spa days etc on my own but I wouldn’t go to the cinema or out for a meal alone. I’ve always loved being single but lately I’m craving a bit of company for those exact things

Most things I'm ok with....travel, eating out etc. Most of the time it hits me when I have nothing planned and around holiday times. I'm looking for a few days away just after Christmas as I find being by myself at that time can be hard

As a divorcee Dad, time on my own is precious. I have friends but the the recharge the battery time is better solo, even a quiet beer or pizza etc out and about.

Then I am ready for whatever fun the remaining time allows.

Each person must find their own way.

As a full time dad, I haven't had a single day on my own for the past three years. Not complaining though, I love doing everything with my son...

However, whenever he's at school or asleep, I rush to do the things I can't when I'm with him (most of it is cleaning

) and that feels great! If I don't enjoy things because I'm alone then I won't enjoy life at all...

But to be honest, he's my best buddy, have fun without him feels like cheating

It's ok to do things on your own. More so now, than ever before. I don't feel that people judge single people doing things on their own. Going for a drink is the only kind of awkward thing

Although I don't think it should be. But I for one definitely a bit weird going for a drink alone. Not so bad during the day or early evening, with a newspaper, book or better still my dog. That seems more acceptable to others.

Quite like doing things alone actually, whether single or coupled up, if I want to do something I'd just do it.

The transition from socialising as a friend's group to seemingly everyone 'settling down' can be tough though.

After twenty years of being coupled I've found the last twelve months both challenging and liberating.

I've always valued and made time for myself. I enjoy being alone and make time for it. Cinema, eating in a bar and cycling and swimming are things I've always and still do alone.

Right now I wouldn't change it for the world.

Learning to live with and love myself has been as rewarding and experience as I can imagine once I came through the other side.

I'm a single parent mostly the reason I'm here I don't have time for a relationship ....so I always go to the cinema alone it's like my safe place ....selected restaurants I'll go to alone noodle bars sushie bars....you don't feel out of place at all

I'm divorced 13 years, kids grown up and doing their own thing. As a singleton I enjoy doing most things on my own, holidays, dining out,weekends away. The only thing I don't do is going to the cinema on my own.

I travel on my own, go to the cinema and the theatre on my own, eat on my own and adventure on my own. If I didn't I wouldn't get to do those things half as often as I do. And I like adventures!

Would do most things myself if required bar cinema. Never done that. But perfer to have likeminded company to do spontaneous adventurous, spa massage etc always better for me with someone lighthearted and fun.

sometimes yeah and no. There are times where I would go to the cinema and wish I had someone beside me or even going for a walk. Luckily now I don't have that issue as I am seeing someone but there is nothing wrong with wanting to escape everything for a while by yourself

Always loved my own company. Looking back as a kid was the same. Loathe the herd mentality. Gigs on my own are few and far between but best enjoyed on my own. Cinema on my own. Have holidayed on my own and enjoyed it. Eat out on my own but do love company there. Yet.......someone to click with and share is always there in the background........

I'm quite happy to do stuff by myself, although I'm also very happy to have company. Partly I think this is because not too many of my friends share my musical tastes, for example.

I think though it's maybe easier for guys to eat out or travel alone - we're less likely to have to deter unwelcome company, for one thing.

I’ve holidayed on my own for years and I quite like it. Love the silence and I feel more grounded afterwards to be honest, it’s good for my headspace to break away from a crowd for a few weeks. I find that others are more concerned about me travelling solo and I’m often asked ‘don’t you get lonely?’ It’s normally me, a good, book, music and headphones by the beach so I’m very content.

I’m also quite content with eating solo, having coffee solo etc but going to the cinema I tried once and I didn’t enjoy it to be honest….it was a very shite movie!

My advice is take the trips and embrace life solo. The world won’t wait for us and you may find you learn a lot about yourself on your adventures!
