This time of the year, I think loneliness can be profound. Partners can be isolated even in relationships so try to connect with others.

You could be completely surrounded by people and still feel lonely. Or life goes at a crazy pace so when you do stop it can be difficult to slow down and be alone.

Getting out into nature always helps me.

"sometimes its a bitch being single and alone"

There's a time and a place for everything. I feel it too being on my own, although it helps having 3 kids 50 percent of the time and work.

Then those dark hours with longing hit. You can do things that distract you or you can push through it.

It's not easy. But you can come stronger out the other side.

Hang in there. And when you can't, distract yourself.

"Join a local group with similar interests or do a bit of voluntary work it gets you out and about "

This, evening classes or courses are all starting up around now and are a good way to get yourself out and meeting new people. Charities and support groups always need volunteers, if you can drive, people need help getting to appointments.

Check out your local Men's Sheds they seem to be excellent way to meet other men. Maybe try gardening might be local allotments. Join a running group to train for 5k. Local drama club either they look for people to help out behind the scenes. This time of year is hard with dark evenings drawing in

Some very good advice above.

From personal experience, I find it's good to tell someone you are going to go to an event.

It's harder to back out that way.

When the blackness comes fight clever.

Sorry to hear that Rosie.

I know women get a ton of shit offers here, but many men get zero offers, and accepting that kind of rejection can take its toll if they aren't feeling strong.

I use to say I was living in a full house and lonely as hell

Lots of good ideas listed above that work

Being a volunteer works if you're willing to put a bit of effort into it especially if it's a role where you're meeting people and charities always need the help

Online gaming can be great.

As others said get out and volunteer.

This place is the worst place for loneliness, it won’t cure it what so ever.

Sometimes you can be in a large group of people you know and still be lonely. It's a tough place fab, you're literally judging a book by its cover lol. I find it hard to be witty and charming over a msg but no issue face to face. But when you do connect with someone it's class and the world's a better place again!

Fact man.

Focus on what you love to do. To hell with everything else. Focus on the simple things, warm place to sleep, food on the table, fresh air, nature. Comedy such as Brendan grace. The select few true friends we all have. A very famous singer said he had over a million friends but only 11 true friends that would have his back if he were rich or poor.

We all need to look forward to something. Speak to gp, whoever, Eat healthier, little more exercise. Whatever it takes to get back on the horse and blaze into the sunset. Wish you well.

Fab can...and does..be a place that seriously f**k's up your mental health,if anyone here takes what happens or is said here to heart ..don't ..for your own well being..

If any person feels lonely ..do what they love to do .. whatever it is ..movies .. games..music ..walks , hiking.. chatting with friends..we all need something to look forward to.. people that are here are here for their own reasons but always remember Fab isn't the be all and end all ..and never will be .

I hear ya & your right it can be alright. Once I come in from work, that's it I don't see anybody again. Until I go to work the next day, that's usually my story. I live in an estate, nobody calls to me. But if I was having meets here, I'm sure plenty in the estate would know about it.

There's good & bad points to being single aswell OP. Good thing = you can do what you want. Whenever you want, in anyway you want to do it, so to speak.

Bad thing = Being like Rosie, in a marriage/relationship, still feel like your along.

Aswell I'm sorry to hear that Rosie.

If your not in a good place, Fab will bring you down further alright. There's plenty of single men, that don't get an offer, of anything at all.

Try not to stay inside all of the time OP. Get out at all, if possible. Go for a walk somewhere, even go to a pub, don't have to have a drink at all. Your bount to get talking to someone, while your there, even get a dog or a pet of somekind.

You've gotten good advice already OP. Do what you want to do, at your own pace OP. Keep the head, there's better day's ahead OP.

I hit a spell where I left my marriage left my gorgeous home to move into a rental all during covid then lost my job 6 weeks after the move and never felt more alone in my life but I started volunteering a couple of nights a week in a food bank and homeless charity and it put everything into perspective for me plus I felt like I had a purpose again. I met some interesting folk with some real tough stories who were really good people and I found myself wanting to head out and see them. And ya never know who u might meet and where life takes you when u venture in different circles. It’s the dark nights watching a movie on ur own I hate. Well some of the time.

Loneliness can be horrible, but we don't need to be lonely, there's always people out there, I think on fab it's about making friends too, so if anyone is feeling a bit lonely or a bit down, I'm always here for a chat, male female or whatever, nothing sexual or anything like that, just a genuine chat, I'm happy to meet people looking to meet friends and have coffee or do an activity, and also make friends myself, don't be shy, we all deserve to be happy, were here for a good time not a long time

Sometimes it's for the best. Went from Struggling to afford rent on a big house for the two of us to renting a crappy room in a house share to getting my own place and hosting my own movie nights with friends. Being single can be a time of growth, you can really focus on yourself without having to factor in a second party. Long bouts of it sucks ass though and you start to feel lost
