Any gardeners on here? Anyone have any idea what to do with perennial sunflowers once they get too tall to stay up? Can they be cut back?

Yes they can be cut back is the quick answer. But then your sunflower is finished for the year.

Leave them as they are the birds eat the seeds when the flowers start to die.

If foliage is dead and the flowers have fallen over you can leave the head for the birds.Some varieties continue to grow from where the stem broke the previous year so you can leave the main stem and clear away the dead leave and it start all over again next year
