Maybe someone can explain why oversized women are called Curvy or BBW but oversized men are simply called FAT. No offence to anyone

Don't think so. Fat men tend to be called curvy, chubby, or dadbod.

Honestly I don't use the word fat to describe people.

I've heard lads called stout, big fella, heavy set, dad bod. I'm sure others will think of more

There are women with profiles that say they are fat and I applaud them taking ownership of a word that is used to deride.

If someone wants to insult you they're gonna do it. It just makes them a huge dick. And body shaming of any gender often comes from the shallowest and most fragile of people.

What other words are there to describe heavy men that are not degrading?

I love that Fab is so body positive in a world where we're supposed to be perfect.

At events, men and women are accepted for their body flaws, people walk around proudly showing off their bodies and its wonderful.

I know it can be different with online interactions but that's been our experience anyway

I've no issue calling myself fat, or being described as fat if it's being used solely as a descriptor.

Said with malice, or with intent to hurt or body shame,is a different story.

However I understand the sensitivity of using the word fat, so I may use other terms when speaking of others, whether they're male or female, and people are free to describe themselves as they see fit.

Perhaps the difference comes about because women are more likely to have their body size thrown at them as an insult therefore people tend to tread more carefully around the terminology they use?
