After meeting a lady on tinder, I found out she was sapiosexual. I passed the basic requirements of attraction. She is also bi. We are genuinely friends and with benifits. She would never come on this site or just have sex without a long process.

It got me thinking.

How many people on fab if any are sapiosexual?

Definition being;

Sexually attracted to intellectual or mental qualities over appearance.

Don't kill me now, because I do actually advocate for more granular descriptions for sexuality.

But is sapiosexual not just a fancy word for nerdy people.

How does sapiosexual work on a picture based app like Tinder? Does she only swipe right if the guy is reading a high-brown in one of his photos or something?

When she turns up on a first date does she bring an IQ test with her?

The term nerd is subjective. One man's meat is another man's poison.

In fairness, sapiosexual is as fair a term as any, for those who are not attracted by looks, until their mind is I gaged first.

Some are sucker for tattoos, or big breasts, or whatever!

Most men, myself included are attracted by the looks first.

But I can be turned off, by a combination of character and or lack of brain. Now I don't know if there is a noun or verb for that.

But there is for for the type of attraction. I swear, if Don Juan himself turned up, this lady wouldn't be interested, until she found his mind interesting.

Having said that..... After a few pina coladas.... Who knows

When I first heard of it it reminded me of people saying they want to be able to have banter with people. Everyone’s humour is different and so is everyone’s intellectual interests. Makes sense to me. I wouldn’t be one to be able to play with anyone with legs, if the conversation doesn’t flow somewhat my brain clocks out. Hats off to those that can, probably have it a lot easier lol

Many are attracted to the mind first...yet still won't engage in a conversation, basing their attraction on the physical appearance.

For the self proclaimed educated( even those with student debt, 5 kids, a wife, a mistress and 4 dogs) may be hypocritical

Unfortunately most truly intelligent people (IQ) are very socially awkward. I think on a lot of the sites people are looking for people who can hold a conversation which is EQ. Most people with higher percentile IQs get bored with the average conversations, leading to them not being attractive to people who are looking for truly intelligent people as they look awkward in social situations.

I think the term sapiophile on here is not used correctly when you read through some profiles which state they are sapiophiles as they typically contradict the statement further down in the profile.

Personally I prefer brains over matter aka personalities and being able to hold a decent conversation in relation to simple statements like “why is the sky blue?” or more complex “we are 99.9999% empty space the world is made up of mostly 68% dark energy, 27% of this being dark matter……….. I won’t bore you with the rest of the physics lesson or philosophical lesson. But essentially being able to discuss topics like this and not get a blank stare back or the flip side of the coin a blank stare from me when people discuss famous people, makeup or other topics which most people find interesting.

I more than likely have this typed incorrectly but I do see why the lady in question has a comprehensive interview process as if she truly gets turned on by intellectual minds then the discussions online and build up prior to meeting are extremely important.

I can't remember what I had on that profile. I opted out for a while. But 2 year's on the contact remains. Definitely wasn't my high earning power... I was broke fresh out of a divorce coinciding with Covid and still providing for kids.

Well put. We met a few times before we jumped into bed. I enjoy the journey and while I love the sex, (wouldn't be on here if I didn't ), I am not pushy about it. It takes two.... or more as I now know

Mensa scores should be a thing on here. You should be able to filter out those who are lower down the IQ ladder. Also search for those who are Mensa level standard. That way nobody would have to waste time with anyone who isn't intelligent enough.

Maybe I should add my IQ to my bio. I don't want to scare anyone off though. I qualified for mensa when I was 13.

That said I work as an artist and creative and my friends would say I am emotionally intelligent.

Would that cause conflict for potential play partners?

I should probably do one of those kink tests too just to round it out and then my bio can just be a list of stats and very informative data.

I pretty much dropped out of school and got the bare minimum in my final exams. My attendance was probably about 40% in my last year. So many people don't fit into a regular school system.

System education is for some not all that doesn’t mean someone isn’t intelligent

Intelligence is staying afloat in what ever a person has chosen to do in life sometimes life deals you a tough hand

Your intelligence sometimes keeps you afloat

And sometimes you need a little help from family or friends

Just because you’re not system educated does not mean you’re not smart

I feel, as stated in a previous comment, there are varying forms of intelligence. Some may be book smart,or not. There could be certificates hanging in homes or offices depicting the IQ. However..those certificates( they may also be in drawer beside the fridge) do not express the knowledge of how an individual can read a person..and it could be out of sheer laziness. Not down to being socially awkward

Personally, I don't see sapiosexual as a genuine sexual preference, and when I used to see it on dating profiles I would roll my eyes.

It comes off a humble brag that they are ever so intelligent and can only connect with people on their level.

But come on!! You could have a high IQ and still be an asshole, or boring personality, or be physically repulsive to them.

What they really mean, is they want to meet someone who they can connect with on same topics as them, and who isn't an idiot, but thats no different from literally anyone looking for a longterm partner.

SapioSEXUAL is not a SEXUAL preferance, its more a personality preference, and literally everyone values different aspects of personality higher than others.

School as we have it doesn't really measure intelligence. It prepares people to be compliant for the workforce and industries.

Emotional intelligence, is practically side stepped.

Artistic intelligence is subjective in its value.

There are whole areas where intelligence just can't be measured.

"Personally, I don't see sapiosexual as a genuine sexual preference, and when I used to see it on dating profiles I would roll my eyes.

SapioSEXUAL is not a SEXUAL preferance, its more a personality preference, and literally everyone values different aspects of personality higher than others."

I think the point for someone who is Sapiosexual is that they get sexually attracted only after being intellectually stimulated. So some need touch, smiles, laughs, fun etc but the sapiosexual need to admire the intellect first before they are able to start being aroused. Technically they could be quite dunces by some standards, it's just their process. Without which they will never be aroused and horny.

It's amazing how many people claim the sapiosexual tag but also have "no pic no chat" type restrictions on who they talk to.
