I was just at Barbie in the cinema tonight. And yes, plenty of subtext to the movie in relation to patriarchy and female role models..

If you want a movie with a message, Oppenheimer really has a seriously powerful one about the futility of war and having the best weapon

On a Christopher Nolan thread, kind of but not his movie, Joker also has an underlying message about mental health and what can happen when society doesn't deal with it properly.

Not a movie but Dopesick left me seriously questioning ethics of big Pharma, much like the Mark Ruffalo movie about the Tefal manufacturers.

As for the judge in the The Trial of the Chicago 7? I'd hate to be looking for justice in America

Subtle as a sledgehammer that movie, I found it a difficult watch. It went right over the head of my 10 year old daughter though lol.

Porkys.....myself and 4 other 16 yr old friends laughed our heads off at this back in 81

A week later one of them was killed in a crash ....first friend to die ...thats what I think of when I think of the film.

Schlinders list.....for obvious reasons but to see the Red coat was very upsetting....

Spotlight ...again for obvious reasons....if you haven't seen it watch it on Netflix

Shawshank Redemption was one that resonated with me as well.

I must watch Ted Lasso.. Seems popular choice.
