Not based on fab experiences but do you think men and women can ever have a platonic relationship only....no sex involved ....or is one of them thinking that they could have sex if circumstances were right.

I have a few platonic friendships with women where sex has never entered my head.

I have platonic friendships with women I've met through fab where we knew straight away that we didn't need benefits to be friends.

I've only ever crossed that line once after years of friendship and we decided after a couple of months we didn't want to damage our friendship and we were able to go back to our previous relationship without any issue at all.

The average man allegedly things about sex 19 times per day, based on that assumption I would find it hard to believe that at some stage in a friendship, the male didn’t look and wonder what it would be like, it might only be a fleeting thought but it still happen

I believe that it inevitable and a basic human instinct that one party or both have an underlying desire for the friendship to be physical. No matter which one of you claims the opposite, be perfectly honest with yourselves. I mean completely honest. Additionally, its natural and necessary for the race to exist.

Given the right situation and correct circumstances it would happen.

I have quite a few women friends, a few have definitely had moments of sexual tension, others have not.

I think it's not difficult to just be friends with the opposite sex, you just have to have good boundaries

Your friendships are platonic, but ultimately who’s decision was that, I am guessing but more then likely it was yours. That doesn’t mean that some or all of those friendships might occasionally wonder or in fact hope for something else.

I find it interesting how different the male and female perspectives can be.

I can perfectly honestly hand on heart say I have many friendships with men that are entirely platonic, and no matter what the circumstances or situation it would never happen.

Maybe individual males and females but I don't think you can say it's true across the board.

I place a lot of importance on friendship and would never jeopardise that by acting on sexual thoughts but more often than not those thoughts don't exist.

I have often friendzoned people without any prior discussion so I've no idea if they are attracted to me sexually or not.

Saying that men aren't capable of doing that is doing them a disservice.

The comment above about how often men think about sex may be true of some but again I rarely think of sex when I'm not having it and I'm sure I'm not unique.

I'd agree that friendship is more important than finding new sexual partners, and I wouldn't for example crack on to one of Laura's friends and risk that relationship for her. That's not to say I won't think of them sexually, but that the friendship takes priority.

Sure you’ve never seen my face (as far as I know) and have only seen pics taken at decent angles…I’m under not illusion that I’m not everyone’s type and that there are plenty of men who would never think about me sexually.

So many assumptions being made on this thread based on profiles and pics and universal attraction which is a myth.

I wouldn't even think about fucking someone because they can take a good pic.

I might think about fucking them if I had actually met them and found them attractive in person.

I've male friends across a broad spectrum through my hobby. Have I had sexual thoughts about some of the ones I find attractive? Absolutely. Has anything ever happened sexually? Occasionally. But these are vastly in the minority. For the most part they're just decent blokes with whom I share an interest.

I find it a strange mindset that sex has to be at forefront to a lot of interaction with the opposite sex and that some cannot fathom a friendship between two people of the opposite gender without one of them wanting sex.

Ermmm I said some...occasionally, vastly in the minority. Did you choose to ignore that bit?

I'll say it again, categorically, I do not have sexual thoughts about nor a secret desire for, every man I have a friendship with. The vast majority of those friendships are platonic, always have been and always will be, and there has never been - at any point - anything sexual.

There are people that you just don’t even register in your head as a potential sexual partner, because they’ve been registered as your mate. Like your head just thinks “this is one of your drinking buddies”.

Another factor can actually be that you get along really well with the person, but you get the feeling ( or even know outright from conversations you’ve had about their sex lives) that you both would not vibe in bed at all.

Long story short, yes I think platonic relationships is a thing

What about platonic relationship with ex girlfriends. I’m still very good friends with most of my teenage/early 20’s girlfriends. We don’t see each other often but when we do we’re very comfortable around each other. Some I’ve met in town and went for a coffee with or on a night out had a drink with. Can’t ever see me or them growing feelings for each other. Maybe it’s different with ex girlfriends. But today in life I’ve trust issues so can’t see myself allowing anyone to get close to me for me to get comfortable around never mind grow feelings for. But I do believe a platonic relationship is very possible.

I would like to think my platonic friends wouldn't think of me in a sexual way. My mind just doesn't work that way towards them. Platonic love is real. I care deeply for the men and women who I'm close to.
