Belfast

I've only started listening to audiobooks this year when driving and most of them have been autobiographical.

So far I've listened to Phil Collins, David Essex, Bobby Robson, Matthew McConnaughy and finished Bono's last week which was over 20 hours long.

I deliberately chose titles that were narrated by the author because I prefer to hear the story in their own voice.

I've enjoyed them all apart from Bobby Robson's because he was obviously reading it and he didn't come across very well.

The reason behind this thread is that I started Sinead O'Connor's yesterday and although I'm only on the prologue it was very sad to hear her say just a couple of years ago when it was recorded that she looked forward to a long and happy life which she planned on writing down and keeping for posterity.

Those words would have had less impact if spoken by someone else.

It made me stop and think about the power of a single voice and how that can be diluted if spoken by different voices.

somewhere

Is it hard to follow the story when you're driving and concentrating on the road.
