I think conspiracy theories by there nature are not real. They stop being theories when it gets out there.

I don't believe things are like the X-Files or anything though.

Of course the biggest conspiracy theory that people are involved in is religion, I think.

I read on the internwt that a bumblebee's wingspan to body ratio is to too large to sustain flight. But I once saw a bumblebee flying with my own eye balls!

Someone really needs to check the internet to make sure stuff like this doesn't be put up willy nilly.

I read a theory by Robert Anton Wilson that true high level global conspiracies are always doomed to failure because it is in the nature of pyramidal organisations to always polish information as it travels up the chain thus the people at the top never receive accurate information.

"I read a theory by Robert Anton Wilson that true high level global conspiracies are always doomed to failure because it is in the nature of pyramidal organisations to always polish information as it travels up the chain thus the people at the top never receive accurate information."

And while we can imagine great big mastermind plots, we forget how incompetent people can be and it's often very easy to mistake humans being human as some nefarious plots.

I'm a big fan of Chomsky though and "Manufacturing Consent" was an amazing piece of work when it came out and had such truth to it in how public perception of issues can be really manipulated by those that inform on the matter.

One thing that I find myself suspecting is how so much of the political divide (especially in the USA) has become utterly focused on identity politics with it constantly pushed to the forefront.

It seems it only really arose to such prominence since the bi-partisan Occupy Wallstreet movement which was united against a financial sector hostile to the interests of normal people. Now those days are long forgotten and people are constantly squabbling over their little culture wars while being screwed by the same unchanging system.

While we can imagine some unknown people in these huge hedgefunds and multinational corporations that have more money than many countries orchestrating this divide, the other explanation is that we humans simply weren't ready for the internet to come along and be pretty much all encompassing in such a short amount of time where we get trapped in our little echochambers that reinforce our own beliefs and opinions due to our inherent confirmation bias, causing us to become more and more different from people on the other sides that have their own little echochambers they're vulnerable to being trapped by

"I've got a mate (had) that went down the full rabbit hole with chemtrails, flouride, vaccinations. Even identity cards and passports. He's become one of those Free men on the land.

I've seen some like that, and it's like the folk who went crazy when an American radio show decided to do a bit about the dangers of dihydrogen monoxide and how it's in nearly everything we eat and consume even though there's a huge amount of deaths by it every year. The people ringing in complaining had no idea that dihydrogen monoxide was simply the scientific wording for plain old water.

That said, I'm likely heading the hermit direction too if that's what you meant by free man on the land.

I've just become very wary of how all encapsulating our current globalised civilisation has become and the direction it's going where everything is part of this great big economic machine that's completely distorted our species' concept of money in favour of focusing on immaterial unfathomable billions and trillions that ends up concentrated at the top for the most part. It's no wonder the value of normal people's actual wealth has declined when this debt based financial sector is focused on these absurd exciting amounts.

Overly complex societies that are dependent on too many moving parts have a tendency to fall apart under their own weight no matter how much they wish to grow forever, and that can be seen throughout history.

You won’t change people’s minds

So over topics like vaccines/world economic forum/ climate hoax/democrats are paedophiles chat

The only common theme is that it’s a response to big events one can’t control and doesn’t understand so one’s response is to be suspicious

And many seem to be generated by right wing sites . I mean is brexit fall out , re-emergence of measles and the fires in Greece not enough to get people to wind their necks in ?

The narrative around UFOs has changed so much in last few years its pretty obvious that something is happening.

I dislike the word conspiracy ..when it's used its often in a derogatory way to belittle the claims. Almost all of the past conspiracy theories have been proven correct . WW1 , Vietnam, Korean wars , Falklands , JFK etc . For most people, to believe that your gov or people in power would act in certain ways to undermine or profit from certain actions is too much to handle .

In Vietnam, the government did try to cover up some war crimes.

I can't think of many possible "conspiracy" for WW1 except that the Lusitania contained arms and the entente were the first to use gas.

Not exactly a conspiracy but proves that things are hidden from the public. JFK did agree to remove missiles from Turkey during the Cuban missile crisis. People didn't know that for a long time.

The WW1 one concerns the steel magnates who had abundance of steel but no buyers so war was good for business. Cui bono so to speak .

Falklands was a ploy by Thatcher to regain control and prevent the Tories been wiped out in the election . Nothing like a "Rule Britania " headline to boost your poll numbers . Look up gulf of Tonkin incident . As for JFK , anyone who thinks Oswald acted alone needs psychiatric help

Carbon Footprint me bollix, no such a thing , made up by a PR company for airlines I think.

It's in everyday speak now.

Sweet potatoes fries I believe have a different type of fibre in them making them a tiny bit healthier than conventional fries, similar to brown rice being a slightly healthier version than white but also containing more calories per gm, calories could also be a conspiracy theory now that I think of it......
