So much of her has touched our lives in a positive way. Through all her struggles she shun like the brightest of stars and gave voice to our fears, dreams, hopes, desires, successes, failures, memories with the sweetest of voices and passion like no one else.

She is a massive loss.

Beautiful tribute session of her music on 2fm right now. Fabulous voice, fabulous collaborations with others. Beautiful one now with Willie Nelson, Don't Give Up....its very good.

A natural beautiful voice ...she had her demons..but what a voice ... What a singer.. probably her best commercial song was " Nothing...." but for me a real rip roaring song was Mandinka .. unbelievably brilliant..God Rest Sinead..thank you so much for the beautiful music.

I was watching a bob Dylan tribute concert she sang on a few weeks ago. It was shortly after she tore up the pope's picture on Saturday night Live. She was booed by the crowd and Kris Kristofferson (legend) came out and whispered to her something along the lines " don't let the bastards get you down"

She lived that to the end. Everyone gave her shit those days and many would likely say they were wrong now. She had a hard life by all accounts. Hopefully she found some peace in the end.

If the likes of Bob Geldof or Bono passed away tomorrow, what would the reception be?

Nowadays, most people will probably say that they are annoying assholes. And I don't feel there's much respect for how much they have dedicated so much of their lives to help their specific causes.

Are we an island of begrudgers, and someone literally needs to pass away before we step back and actually acknowledge what good they have done?

That is basically what Morrissey said and it's very true.

Bono and Geldof can be annoying twats but it's those traits that have enabled them to call out injustice and do the things they have done over the years.

I've never been a U2 fan and never really had an opinion on Bono and his Messiah complex but I've been listening to the Surrender audiobook over the last few weeks and come to see him in a much more positive light.

They all want to talk about the subjects no one else will touch because they are afraid of being tarnished.

Poverty and Aids couldn't be denied and Bono and Bob were mostly targeting those in authority who could make a difference.

Unfortunately for Sinead she tried to raise awareness of things that no-one wanted to admit existed and she bore the brunt of the backlash.

Definitely I'd say with Bono and Bob it's a bit of 'who do they think they are' Irish begrudgery.

With Sinead I think it's more complex. I think her raw honesty, fierce emotion and her vulnerability made many people uncomfortable. She was a mirror to our society at times and we didn't like what she showed us.

On the other hand, many of us just wanted to mind her
