Worst thing about mid-life and beyond?

Jump to newest

By *eeking Passion OP   Man

yep

I’ll start. It’s not the extra wrinkle, the inability to eat what you want. The pain, somewhere, always, something hurts!

For me the worst thing is every time I realise those fantasies with a cougar or the classic milf are becoming impossible the older I get! The dreams of an older woman taking me under her wing in my 20s are long gone

I don't live in the past anymore but it used to be tough looking back at the huge gaps in my life and how much further away my nonexistent teenage years were.

Apart from that I've never had an issue about getting older.

Ha ha exactly!! Best of both worlds!

Huge bonus as you age is being more confident and able to say no, to walk away, to be you.

I think its a lot easier for men to be middled aged or old as I think of myself now

Do I wish I was younger with all the problems and worries that I had at the time....probably not.

Do I wish I was a lot older ...probably not ....still don't intend to live to a ripe old age ...once my kids are 100% self sufficient I'd like to jump on a plane to Switzerland after saying goodbye to everyone

At present ....I'm in a good place apart from a long term illness and general aches and pains and that will get worse

Dont want to wake up dead just yet

Life is too short to be looking at the negatives.

Lost of positives about getting older also if you have your shit together and look after yourself

"Life is too short to be looking at the negatives.

Tell that to the menopause The loss of ovarian follicular function and decline of oestrogen doesn't really give a flying fig how well you have your shit together or look after yourself. It's incredibly difficult to not look at the negatives when they pervade every part of your life, every hour of every day. It's right and proper that peri and menopausal women look at that negative impact and talk about that negative impact rather than sweep it under the carpet and stay quiet.

And of course there are positives to getting older but that wasn't the question

Getting older is never ever going to be the same as it has been in all our history. Fundamentally life as we know it is on the cusp of entirely changing forever. Life as we know it is already after changing In ways that can never go back. In 3 years time we will not even recognize the world. That's not to say it will be a bad thing, Guaranteed it will be astronomically different worldwide. So too will our lives and how we get old.

Never in history have we created something more intelligent than ourselves and capable of learning.

Life will never be the same again ... if we are careful and respectful, it will be close to an actual utopia

The alternative to the if, been given by someone the best AI mines on the planet at the moment is, unfortunately a world where in the next 2-3 years The capabilities of AI will be misused misregulators and results in a real existential treat .

Unfortunately it all rests on what data sets we feed ai to learn. We have an opportunity right now to instill in the most intelligent organisms that we have ever known I'm our values and beliefs.

Or we instill in them all our hatred bigotry aggression etc.

Right now however it's an undeniable fact that the world will be fundamentally never the same again within the next 12 to 36 months.

One of the simplest examples some are citing, Is that now no teacher in the world can give an essay as homework!!!

We have never experienced such a change at such a rate in the history of humans that we are aware of. That just gives a slight glimpse into how things are on the cost of changing forever
