My town

I'm at my stage of life where menopause has hit me..

The mood swings the sleepless nights, but one thing I thought I'd never experience was loss of sex drive. Coming from having a high sex drive to literally hardly thinking bout sex or wanting it.

Many ladies gone through or going through it . Did it pass and normal services regained for want of a better word.

There seems to be good reports about the Fabu Meno and Peri supplements with regards to libido, along with other menopause symptoms. Might be worth checking out

"Still waiting to feel significantly better after 3 years on HRT

It stopped the night sweats and topical oestrogen helped with thinning scar tissue from episiotomy, beyond that, no, low mood and loss of libido has been persistent. Recent changeup in my prescription adding testosterone, but it will likely be several months before any (possible) benefits emerge. It appears every woman's experience of both menopause itself and any solutions is unique, trial and error I'm afraid.

It is horrendous. I'm just about coming out the other side of this. Sex drive was literally in my boots probably for the past 3 years and no matter what I bought or tried really didn't make a difference.

What I have found recently is testosterone gel as well as HRT patches and pessaries are slowly but surely helping.

I really did feel I was losing my mind at one stage.

There is a FB groups that is ran by two menopause nurse specialists which I found really helpful.

I can't offer any advice but just to wish anyone the best going through it. Sounds terrible.

My libido is ok, and hrt has helped with the mood swings and night sweats

The brain fog is unreal though, conversations are unreal as I stop regularly rummaging in my brain for 'the word'

"Word"? I forget entire conversations that people assure me I've participated in!

When I started HRT I thought it was life changing. And it was, briefly.

I use Evorel Conti patches and lately I'm noticing a huge oestrogen dump at day 1 then a significant tapering off from day 2. Hot flushes, sleeplessness and low energy are back with a vengeance. The brain fog is often crippling and yeah, if anyone finds my libido please return it immediately.

Definitely need to schedule an appointment with my GP for a review.

Re: low energy, I've found that taking a good menopause vitamin supplement heavy on the B vitamins is really helpful. The fluorescent green pee is an interesting side effect though

Far far away

Having a good doctor is key, I had an amazing GP who helped and is very supportive.. Google may be helpful but find reputable sites to follow. rockmymenopause.com

A good friend of mine has been getting vitamin b12 injections and it has been a game changer for her both in terms of the fog and also better sleep. Might be worth asking your gp

I started perimenopause two years ago... sweated like nothing normal the docs tried me on tablets Mrs grumpy coming through ... patches didn't stick to my skin very well so because i was still getting light periods the docs put me on 2 mg Sanderna gels a day and I got the merina coils in ... still not sleeping right .. but my moods have got considerably happier and my sex drive is through the roof ...

Talk to your doctor tell them all your symptoms and hopefully all will work out xx

Definitely try the FABU meno supplements. I had to taper off on my hrt gel to every second day as I found it helped my libio better. Plus the vagifem daily was a game changer. Its defo trial and error. The fb group the Irish menopause is very good for tips and advice

I’ve been on hrt patches 75mg and Vagifem over 12 months

The night sweats have stopped but the brain fog is horrendous

Only last week started on the testosterone gel

Has anyone else been on this with good (or bad) results?

It took testosterone gel and localised estrogen for me to get my sex drive back.

It’s back with a bang.. super happy.

The estrogen gel and progesterone at night stopped the joint pains, hot flushes, brain fog.. feeling I was going insane.. loads of other symptoms but did nothing for the sex drive.

I had to go to the menopause hub (look them up) in dublin to get the right combination that works for me. Well worth the money.

I've started getting peri symptoms too and I found a supplement called Monomin helped me a lot.

I think some of the female doctors can be worse than the men for female related problems. If they haven't experienced it themselves they think we're exaggerating things.

Not always the case, my GP is younger than me, says she is dreading menopause herself having seen what women go through. If anyone feels their doctor isn't taking them seriously, see someone else.
