"There's some very good Chromebooks or there now and if your not going beyond browsing and documents you'll probably be grand. Questions to ask How much RAM (more is faster) aim for 8gb if you can get it How many years will it receive security updates for? Off brand cheapies are unlikely to get updated much. Trusted brands like Asus, Samsung etc will potentially get software and security updates for five years. You don't want to buy a machine that runs old software and won't update.
