I'm taking my oldest child (late teens) to Dublin at the end of the month to visit a few of the art galleries (we're staying in the vicinity of the National Gallery) so I'm looking for your recommendations of places to eat.

As the title says, I'm looking for somewhere quirky and a little bit different, quite casual and that won't break the bank. The type of cuisine doesn't matter - we're both fairly adventurous. However we are looking somewhere within striking distance of the city centre (I'm not bringing the car).

Also where can we get a really great breakfast?

Naas which is South West of Dublin

There use to be a place around Abbey street/Liffey street, sort of a food emporium with a good mix of different foods but I’m not sure if it’s still there.

Mongolian BBQ in Temple bar was good when I was there last.

Token arcade in Smithfield is fairly popular. Loads of retro video games and the food is fairly good.

For a great breakfast, ye can’t look further than Bread 41

It’s 5 mins from the national gallery and does delicious pastries and in particular sausage rolls

Xian street food is also nearby which is no frills but delicious Chinese food to sit in or takeaway

Pi does class pizza

Chimac or Madegg does class chicken burgers

Zakura for sushi

Sprezzatura for pasta

Capel street is a good shout, plenty of new hipster restaurants round there from around the world that won’t break the bank

That should give ye a decent start or else give us a DM if ye need any other

I see bread 41 mentioned by a very knowledgeable chap , you should definitely go there for coffee and treats it's class ...777 is my fav place in Dublin, really cool spot and on Sunday they do a special €7.77 menu ... Great cocktail list for yourself too ...try anything with Mezcal in it

I got rather disgusted when I saw that in my first trip into the city post lockdown. Mind you, you can’t sneeze at €1 for a big bag of onion rings.

We only know because we used to attend munches in the pub beside it.

Where you are staying is touristy and they charge accordingly so you might need to travel a bit

Bread 41 is good but always busy. I tend to avoid it now for that reason. The food court in the IFSC has some nice food. A place called brubakers off Nassua street does a good breakfast and some excellent sandwiches it’s family run

Simon place in the George’s arcade and the arcade itself While there a couple of good Indian restaurants around there as well. Nepal kitchen and Diwila. Elephant and castle for wings good call

Burger joints ain’t quirky imo.

Lot of places in Dublin with big names , overpriced. Some places living on ppl’s fables of yesteryear when they used to be good. Yes , I’m a very tough audience.

Neon is a great Thai , communal mixed seating , we go in there quite a bit. Camden street. Free ice cream cone after dinner too!

Aperitivo , been twice , good also. Bottom of grafting street.

Also Hang Dai , they’re kinda Chinese tapas or Chinese fusion , definitely worth looking into. We’ve been there a few times also with friends. Really like it.

It was a great area, one of my go to spots for food in Dublin but been gone a long time now sadly.

Gin palace does some nice food.

Another vote for the Mongolian BBQ, it is an all you can eat place and they cook it in front of you.

There's lots of places behind stephens green shopping centre near grafton hotel.

Plenty of places to get nice breakfast. If its girl, theres pink restaurant near not been obviously
