This is a bit of a contentious issue, but what are peoples thoughts on how a hotel bill should settled, man for it all, half it or what... I just blocked by a lady when I asked how did she want to settle the bill..

If im away and booked the hotel for myself and look for company id pay the full amount, if it's an organised play meet during the day or an overnight id always insist on splitting the cost it's only fair...

Splitting the bill is fair with someone new. If you are already staying in a hotel and just looking for someone to join then you pay yourself. Also if you meet someone regularly you could arrange that you alternate who pays each time you meet.

If it’s organised on both parties she or they or it or fisher them should at least offer to go halves, personally be thrilled to be blocked by such a person

This reads as though you had the hotel booked anyway, and the meet was organised after. If this was the case I wouldn't have even asked the question.

It's not contentious at all as far as I'm concerned.

Some women feel the man should be grateful enough to pay for everything.

Some men feel we should be at thankful and gentlemanly to cover all costs.

Most people however have no issue treating each other as equals and splitting the difference or one pays for the room and other for a bit of grub.

If its a mutual agreement to meet in a hotel then it's only fair to split the bill and its the right thing to do. Some guys will happily just pay the full bill and that's just fine but I don't think it should be expected that the guy or girl foot the full bill especially with the price of hotels this weather. I paid € 340 for a hotel in bray last year .... it should be noted that I very nearly had a heart attack at reception the next morning.

I believe there are many women who would expect the man to pay for everything, room, food, drinks. They're noticeable by their absence in the thread comments, however. I approach a meet with an attitude of generosity, and dont mind paying, if the woman, or couple Im meeting are generous, in some way. Perhaps bringing wine, flowers, paying for coffee, snacks, etc.

Having an expectation that the man SHOULD pay for everything, is a bit 1970's, and is unequal. To look on it logically, is the woman offering the use of her body in return for the price of hotel, food, and drinks? Those days are over, for me, and certainly don't think I'd be compatible with someone who thinks like that. A meet is for sharing pleasures, bodily and intellectually.

Yep pretty much this.

And OP if she blocked you then she obviously didn't want to pay anything and expected you to so I wouldn't worry about it. There are plenty out there who don't expect the man to foot the bill.

Call me old fashioned but I'd be pretty insistent on paying full whack on a first meet with a woman whether it was a coffee or a hotel. I wouldn't let it be a deal breaker if she insisted on contributing but I'd just prefer she didn't.

On all my time on Fab only one gentleman insisted on booking hotel but I returned favour next time. Besides from that one guy I always end up booking and over the years I've had my fair share of forgotten wallets forgotten trips to Atm or just don't turn up so I usually end up covering the costs.

I nearly fell out with a couple when I offered to pay half and the response was that mentioning money made it seem transactional... As it happened they were in the hotel so felt it was their decision to invite me to join them.

But I didn't want any awkwardnesw in the room. Generally it's spilt or you get the next time

Unless one of the parties is booked in already, I always split the bill and that counts for food etc too.

I'm very bad at accepting freebies. I actually went behind the back of a business trip guy ( company paid gorgeous hotel and food etc) and paid for dinner on the second night, once he got up to go to the bathroom. As I felt I had to pay for something lol

Totally depends , a guy might expect to get laid because he had paid for the hotel room, he might have a kinda sense of entitlement if you like and sometimes that puts a woman off ,as in she doesn't want to screw him but maybe is out under a bit of pressure simply because that he paid for the hotel room and that should never be the case . On repeat meets both are happy to go 50/50 on cost of room , but l do know women that think a guy should pay for the room because she thinks " well if l'm gonna fuck this guy it's not gonna cost me financially "... everyone has a different approach to the cost but l suppose it's what everyone is happy to do in that situation that matters.

Not sure I have shared a bill in years. Can’t remember the last time and not really a fan of it. In my experience either the couple or I get the hotel. If it is the couple I try to brings drinks etc to say “thank you”.

If we’re staying in room after for the night we wouldn’t accept any contribution. Likewise if other couple is staying overnight, we wouldn’t offer anything for the room (unless we spent a large portion of night there - unlikely with babysitter clock ticking).

If organised specifically and exclusively for the meet (nobody staying overnight), we’d like to split it with a couple. On rare occasions of hotel meet with single man, we’d usually like to check in to room first so we’d pay, and up to him to offer a contribution. If situation ever arose with single female, we’d pay and wouldn’t accept any contribution - call it misguided chivalry or market forces but that’s just way we’d approach it.

If a single man told us he could accommodate a meet and last minute this turns out to be a hotel, we’d be pretty miffed if he expected us to pay something towards the room. Again, due to numbers we can be more discerning in choosing men who can accommodate, whereas we’d like to dedicate our swinging hotel budget to our couple meets.

And just to add, when I was new to fab, a nice lady gave me the following advice.

Always book in your name, not his, because if things don't work out, for whatever reason, and if he gets, shall we say ratty, then you can tell him to leave and you still have somewhere to stay.

Depends I guess. We're usually there first because we've always booked the room (and it gives me a chance to have a quick cuppa and change) and we're not there particularly long after a guest has left either.

We pay simply because we’re a couple and we’d be using the room before and after so wouldn’t expect anyone else to contribute.

When it’s 2 single people i just assumed the bill was split.
