Co. Cork

John Torode's food journey started tonight on RTE2. (Something positive after all the negativity)

Such a positive depiction of Dublin food favourites.

Looking forward to the following parts of his Irish food journey.

Will he come to Cork for tripe and drisheen?

cavan town

Cavan for some boxty. I remember when it was only available as a gift from cavan/fermanagh grannys who were the only people in the world who knew how to make it. Then the secret got out and I think you can buy it in most counties

It was common in Leitrim and Sligo as well. I suspect it was more common in Leitrim than it was in Cavan.

I make boxty occasionally myself. None of that easy pan boxty though. Boiled boxty or gtfo.

Pound cake gets its name because it was traditionally made with 1lb of flour, 1lb of sugar, 1lb of butter and 1lb of eggs.
