So… I’m hoping to get back into lifting some iron and I’m curious as to what is best to take for power & strength? What works for you?

DC

I keep mine minimal.

Coffee for pre workout, used to take a pre workout.

Protein(whey/beef isolate) and creatine alongside vit d, c & cod liver oil.

Try to eat as clean as I can but we all love a takeaway now and again

the right side of the river

Your body can only absorbed about 30g of protein so all these protein powders, pre workout, post work out potions are doing nothing extra for you if you are eating a healthy balanced diet anyway.

Maybe a multivitamin with zinc can help with testosterone but nothing much else unless you are looking for hgh and steroids

Thanks for clarifying because supplements for him compared to her are a bit different. Sites like Bodybuilding dot com is a much better forum than here for quality advice.

Whey and creatine, I’ve stopped the creatine, wasted expense and my protein strawberry cheesecake just to Make sure the protein goals are hit

Eat healthy, sleep 7-8 hours , water and recovery

Have to agree, always amazes me how much people will spend on these when most can be achieved through a good diet.

Best thing for power and strength is consistency, keep at it and you’ll see progress

If you’re not getting something to eat within 30mins of finishing your workout then maybe a protein shake (whey isolate has less shit in it than the cheaper powders)

No real need to spend a clean fortune on supplements

Power & strength

Progressive consistent training

Depends a-lot on what your goals are?

How much time your willing to put in ?

What your history of training is ?

Only go with supplements after 6 months of training

Nothing beats hard work good diet and good sleep

Best of luck

Kick ass

These are the two sources of info I use. Google them because I know they don't like links on here

Since based and miss out the BS and bro science .

Resistance periodization and Layne Norton.

Always good stuff on their Instagram's.

----

Back to basics..

- Lots of rest if you're looking to build power and strength in your 40s

- Sufficient protein of 1.5grams per kg of body weight from quality protein sources

- Sufficient omega 3s in your diet as well as healthy fats. Udos oil is great

- Healthy amount of fibre as lets face it, the body changes after 40

-Keep showing up for training
