I've been enjoying the forum recently. I have noticed a topic come up as an aside to other topics. Music!

So I thought it would be cool to hear about the favorite music of everyone. Either the best gig or event or the music that you turn too when you are feeling down, sad, or happy or whatever emotion.

There's no right or wrong just your preference experience thoughts and emotions.

I usually listen to most types of music. I might sing along to what's on the radio or sing abit of a song that comes into my head. Very rarely sing anything, when I'm feeling sad or down. Saying that I wouldn't sing that much when I'm happy either. I listen to it more than anything.

For me there is music for every mood. I loved blues trad and reggae as a teenager, even when some good friends were laughing as they were metal heads.

As I grow older I gain more and more liking for all kinds of music.

Still as a mood lifter, reggae and Bob Marley really do it for me.

I sing along to it to. It does help that I sing anyway.

Depends on my mood...but i love all sorts. 90s dance or 90s rap would be if im in party mode. Classic rock would be my go to for day to day tunes. I love some older country music too, it reminds me of growing up in wide open spaces. Music connects me to a lot of different memories and emotions.

Very eclectic here

I’d say favourite bands are guitar ones from the 90s. Radiohead , The Verve, REM. Also Muse , Flaming Lips and Mercury Rev.

Really enjoyed Ibiza anthems around that time too . Would have queued up for hours to get into the Ministry of Sound .

More recently have been getting into pop and afrobeat.

Genre is less important than how the song makes you feel . It’s a chemical thing . I don’t like bittersweet symphony , everybody hurts and my iron lung , all by my favourite bands . Yet absolutely love ‘I know I am not the only one’ by Sam Smith whose other songs I detest .

Favourite gig is tough. There were moments of gigs that were so transcendental . Pretenders singing I ll stand by you , Muse singing sing for absolution , Feeder singing forget about tomorrow , Thom Yorke singing True Love awaits , Mercury Rev singing Goddess on a highway . And for en encore , my favourite moment was Maximo Park absolutely sending everyone wild with apply Some pressure .

Best gig I've even been to

Coldplay croke park .....absolutely incredible crowd and band at the top of the world

Close second ....Paul McCarthy..seen him a few times..its a bit like when Sam Neill and Laura Dern see the dinosaur for the first time....look it's a Beatle

U2.....every gig is a time from my life that I'll always remember.

Leonard Cohen.......an amazing experience every single time.Never heard of him before my first gig and then had the pleasure of seeing him another 5 times

Ennio Moricone / Hans Zimmer

Seen them both live a few times and the movie memories are amazing while listening to their wonderful scores

I'm a hard rock/metal kinda guy myself. Have been since the late 80's and it's definitely my preference altho I do love some classics too like David Bowie, Johnny cash, the cure ect.

This here exactly! I listen to lots of different stuff, a very eclectic mix and all of it connects to different life stages and times and memories.

I'm the kind who wouldn't be able to tell you the name of the song or the artist for the most part though...never watched music videos, rarely attend gigs, just scroll through Spotify with my various playlists then bringing up other suggestions to add to current life stage and making new memories

Varied taste in music but I was definitely born in the wrong decade. 70s rock is my bag baby. Thin Lizzy in my mind were untouchable in their hay day. I went to see them about 6 times, without Phillo obviously, but the closest I could get to the real thing. Scott Gorham, John Sykes, Darren Wharton and Brian Downey...legends
