Hey all!

Hope you’re all keeping well.

Does anyone have any recommendations from getting a decent walk around North of the Island?

Part of weight journey is trying to get new and decent walks.

Castlewellan forest park has loads of walks ranging from predominantly flat round the lake, up to some steeper walks up into the hill behind the castle.

Strangford lough from Castleward out round the lough shore and back to the house is also good.

Further north, you have a great walk from castlerock out to Mussendenden Temple and back or along the beach too.

Oh and in Belfast I'd head to Shaws bridge and wlak along the lagan, or out to Lady Dixon park. And not too far from Hillsborough for a walk round the lake there too.

If you're feeling more energetic, there's always Cave hill up round the castle.

Walking the giants causeway is beautiful just ask the locals about getting in without going into the visitors center or Carrick a rede rope bridge

Newry Down

Look at the site, Walk NI.

Tollymore Forest Park is close to Newcastle and is superb;I have accidentally caught couples in full flow on several occasions, but was not invited to join them.

Slieve Croob is a nice one for beginners. Proper path, not too long but has great views on a good day.

Hen Mountain is another beginner level walk, not hugely steep and has great views of the sunset

Hare's Gap is always worth the trip and is a lovely walk

Slieve Doan (from the Ott car park) is slightly more challenging and takes about 4 - 5 hours but the 360° views are well worth the effort (be warned though, there's a boggy section after you descend down from the Mourne Wall, just before the bottom of Doan.

If you don't fancy the hills, you can walk the canal towpath the whole way from Newry to Portadown. It's 20 miles but you can do as much of it as you like. Watch out for bikes though!

Plus we're blessed here with so many great forest parks so you're spoilt for choice really.

I can recommend highly The Black Mountain walk as it is very picturesque. Also the Lagan Toepath is beautiful.
