'autonomous sensory meridian response' is the term for the bodies response. This is not soley a response to sound. It can be commonly felt as a responce to something tactile also(lips softy caressing the neck/hairline.) ASMR can also be a response to someones own anticipation of touch or sound.

ASMR seems to be a trending topic online. Though I am yet to come across an article/video on how it can be negative. There are sounds people do not like and the sensory responce they have is not pleasant.

I have experienced Asmr in each way I've spoken about. Through sound, touch and a feeling of anticipation.

It is a fantastically overwhelming feeling sometimes, pure relaxing other times but I have experienced it in moments of anxiousness/anticipation where it doesn't feel so nice.

I can't even articulate how much I dislike asmr. It's like nails on a chalk board to me. It makes the inside of my skull itch and my skin feels like it's being rubbed with a cheese grater.

Tintings stuff is particularly egregious.

I can't stand the whisper whisper voice they use, it is unnerving. There are a couple of videos on YouTube of a Korean guy making furniture and there's not a word spoken. Just the sound of tools and timber, very relaxing. I don't know if it counts as ASMR.

I use it to help me sleep. Few artist I like. But yeah the odd one with their mouth noises has done it for me without going into it with that intention. I love the face close ups I think, helps with the giantess fantasy hahaha
