Dundalk(ish)

I (mr) went to see Sigur Ros on my own way back in 2005.

It was one of the best, most immersive experiences I've ever had at a gig. Just me and the show. I'd definitely do it again if the circumstances were right.

I was supposed to go to see a tribute band last night but a friend couldn't make it so I passed up on the opportunity I'd feel very social insecure and awkward on my own

I get that ... and for me its the case that I like the buzz with people more than the event ... don't get me wrong I love clubs and concerts yet don't know what you would do at these events without a few ?

Definitely - why on earth not? I do, regularly. This isn't because I've no friends, by the way. It's just that (a) most of them have more family responsibilities than I have right now, and (b) even fewer of them share my musical tastes!

I have done yep, several times. There's been gigs and events that I've had no friends or family wanting to go, but I've wanted to be there myself... so fuck it, just go! I'd have regretted them otherwise.

Done it many times, not an issue for me. I prefer to go alone than with someone that doesn't want to be there and it's not always possible to have matching taste with every avaliable person.

When at a gig I'm there mainly for the music not for the chats, ideally there's both but I'm their own place.

Yep. The only thing stopping you is over thinking it. Your 1st time solo will be the hardest cos you'll be thinking about it when in reality, nobody else will notice or care.

My 1st time going alone, I just stayed near the back of the crowd where it was least busy. Now when I go alone, I just go into the middle of it and always get talking to someone.

Went to see BC,NR by myself Friday. Could not have been improved by having anyone with me who might'nt've been as invested in that experience as I was

I've always disagreed with a close friends favourite quote from Christopher mccandless-" happiness is only real when shared"

I personally believe that I need to love myself to be able to love someone else, and as a result, I need to be able to find happiness on my own first as well

I dunno man, maybe I'm just pished on a Sunday night and feeling philosophical

Frames Christmas gig Vicar Street few years ago.

Wife felt sick. Went alone. Brilliant gig, played an extra 30mins in audience acoustic because stage sound turned off. Absolutely amazing and wife so sorry she missed it

Yes and no. I went to one last year and enjoyed it and I'm thinking about doing another one in dub this summer. I'm more of a people's person so I find it's much better even you have someone to enjoy it with and share the experience, so yeah why not

I went to a similar gig years ago by myself, must have been 5000+ at it, very chilled. Got talking to an attractive girl in front who was also there by herself. Within two songs I was holding her, by the third we were kissing.

At the end we went for a drink said our goodbyes and got separate taxis home.

It was magical

I go to gigs on my own all the time but I work in the industry so I rarely end up alone for long, always seem to know people at everything.

Even if I don’t I’ll no doubt make new friends by the end
