Not a thread about the weirdest stuff you've had in your mouth

Never been to Italy and yet my favorite food is Italian ....always assumed that it would taste nicer over there especially pizza

Never been to America...yet I've always wanted to try a hotdog from a cart on the streets of New York...again assume its just nicer than anything over here

So whats your experiences of food in other countries especially in Asia....are all the restaurants toning down on the spices for us or is it the same worldwide

There is a lot less meat in local asian food with more sauce and veg and rice. It tastes so much better too. What we have here is only a poor copy sadly

I’ve done both local cuisine in Italy is just class and a hotdog from a cart in New York is just ok!

I can confirm that Italian food is even better in Italy, I've loads of food memories that are so unique and unrivalled. It's the fresh home-grown ingredients, the warm climate and the passion for cooking and food of the Italians that make Italian kitchen so divine.

Having said all that I've also eaten my worst tortellini ever in Sienna, Italy, absolutely horrendous and inedible. Moral of the story: stay away from tourist traps. And those tourists traps can be found in almost every country. So the trick is to go where the locals go and you get authentic food. Stalls and street food normally or simple restaurants.

One of the tastiest things I've ever eaten is a turkey leg in the States.

It's nothing like I expected and and is red meat rather than white and tastes more like a ham shank than turkey.

I want one now

I believe Irish people completely underestimate the quality of our food, Australia/NZ the only other places comparable.

We always find the food in Europe quite disappointing, Italy and France both very average. Whether in tourist traps or not, expensive or cheap, always disappointing!

The Bangkok Street food was just beautiful! Stir frys and curries cooked fresh to order!

Really enjoyed food in Cambodia and Vietnam, especially the fruits and vegs, exceptionally good!

Been to Lithuania many times and I really like their food, Cepelinai, Kibinai and Šaltibaršciai(cold beetroot soup)

The so-called curries and other Indian dishes that are available in Europe are a pale imitation, a very pale imitation of the amazingly spicy dishes that are available on the Indian subcontinent.

The flavours are amazingly intense; you do need a cast iron stomach to cope!

I agree with you there, about the cast iron stomach. I was at an Indian restaurant a few times. The food was great(I had nothing else to compare it to) going down alright. A completely different story, when coming out of me, let's just say that.

Jerk chicken or shark n bake from Tobago . Roti is another or goat stew . But the best is when the fisher man walk thru restaurant with a fish over his shoulder and it’s on your plate in less the 20 minutes
