The Irish defence forces are heading to Sudan to bring Irish home. There is not that much room on Government Jet

South Side.

It's likely they will be doing it in tandem with another force, and sharing resources. Germans? , French?

"The Irish defence forces are heading to Sudan to bring Irish home. There is not that much room on Government Jet "

The government jet would never be used to extradite citizens in a hot spot as Sudan.

Due to to extreme unpredictability of waring factions every Aircraft is a target, and more so western labelled aircraft.

The UK used aircraft that had defensive aide suites in the event of an attempt to target their aircraft, something our government decided against in the purchase of a dedicated transport aircraft that has the ability to carry 70.

So you will not see irish military aircraft flying into hotpots in the near future.

The gov jet aka the Learjet is not a suitable aircraft for this operation, it’s more for exec transport, there are currently 3 x Casa 295 Aircraft in order. 2 maritime patrol, and 1 transport equipped.

However the last ECAT op from Afghanistan relayed the operatives to France and were then relayed on, there is a huge capex cost on having an aircraft that is hardly used.

It's not an opinion that's stated its statement that's based on incorrect information

The evacuation from Sudan to Djibouti can be carried out using CASA aircraft, that are usually based in Baldonnel, but the Irish Army, Oglaigh na hEireann, use leased aircraft to take personnel to Chad, Mali, Lebanon, etc., on UN protection missions.

The options for carrying out the evacuation are plentiful.

I always feel for the families of the forces that know their loved ones are going into dangerous areas. As we have seen recently not all of our soldiers come home.

I very much doubt any comments on this site carry weight when it's political or other. This site is all about fantasy and getting away from reality..

"So you will not see irish military aircraft flying into hotpots in the near future. "

Why?

Because it never happens before, we haven’t the capability now, or we won’t have in the future?

You can’t scream neutrality if you have the capability to do so

So let’s all hope they all get back safe

Is that the total extent of irish government / military aircraft?

Having basic defensive / rescue capability wouldn't compromise neutrality
