Going on a date date

Ok, so I have a date with a girl off Bumble next week in Kildare.

I was with my ex for practically 6 years and this will technically be my 1st actual date date since we broke up.

You'd swear I was 14 again but I have absolutely zero clue anymore where to take someone on dates when starting out.

Where and what do people even do on 1st dates nowdays?

I'd always suggest something that requires you to talk to eachother. Hate cinema first dates when you don't get a chance to get to know someone.

Dinner, or if your really nervous try something like mini golf followed by something else.

in the waves

I prefer casual first dates where you can talk easily. So coffee or a drink. Maybe go somewhere nice where you can go for a walk and get a coffee after?

Save dinners and other stuff for subsequent dates, in my opinion.

Good luck

It's a 5pm date cause she has a small one to put to bed so I thought it might be a bit early for a dinner date myself.

Mini golf is a good shout I must say.

Agreed, wasn't going to go near a pub, bit too early for that, plus I have to drive back to Limerick after hahah

I was thinking something fun where we can flirt and stuff but wouldn't no Kildare town in the slightest

You can be the slow skater and have a wee perve from behind, you can be an unconfident skater and ask to hold her hand for support... it's an active thing where you can have a conversation, bit of physical touch with mixed in adrenalin - perfect combo

"

National stud"

Dam right……

Good shout on Kildare village, sit down coffee, or take it to go if the conversation takes a little while to flow, walking around the shops will give great opportunity for different subjects, you can get to know a lot about a person shopping or walking around shops.

Hope it goes well……

Check out kilcullen farm an nature trails again weather depending an obviously what herself may be into you need to take into account, she could hate walking for eg.

Im sure you will land on your feet. Keep it simple light hearted and have a giggle an it wont matter where you are after that.

I'd love a relationship. For me personally, no better feeling in the world than getting a message from your gf or the smile on thier face when they are happy to see you and about 50 other things that make it great

Firstly congratulations.

Try not to be thinking about it to much in your head. Just go with the flow(so to speak), you'll do great.

Your getting good advice from other's on here.

I'd be thinking alone the same lines as meeting in a coffee shop, quite pub, have a drink, chat & go for a walk, somewhere like the Japanese wall garden.

The ice skating is a great idea for them reasons. I'd never have though about any of them thing's happen. Also I'd be afraid to go near ice skating, cause of the fear of ending up A&E in a heap

Once again you'll do great, you've got this.

Dublin west

Keep it simple for the first meet up and see how you get on.

Every journey has to start with a single step so go with the flow and see how you get on.

If either of you not feeling it during the first meeting then there is no pressure as you are not doing anything too grand.

If its ment to be it will. If it's not it wont..

You just got to roll with it and see what happens.

Good luck and enjoy it.

Hahahah I'll let ye know how it all goes.

And thanks for all the advice, I do think a a chill coffee meet and then go for a stroll so we could talk is probably the way to go alright for a 1st meet.

And if might seem off cause I'm on fab and everything and no offence to absolutely everyone on here, but genuinely for me personally, I'd love nothing more than to find a girl that I can have a proper connection with and can be 100% myself around them and they would love me for it...

Sorry for being all soppy lol

South County Dublin

There is a new section in Kildare Village, not all shops open. There is a van selling coffee, nice coffee by the way, with a few benches to sit on near by if it is not raining.

Best of luck on your date.

The advice is great, fair play OP it's not easy to be vulnerable. Give yourself every opportunity to get to know and allow her to get to know you. Stick to situation that you're comfortable with to start with, coffee and a stroll through a park, lake or around a castle, whatever floats your boat. Keep the chat light and get a feel for a second date that you can be a bit more adventurous on. Lockdown really did a number on some people's chances at dating.
