Also the B&I Ferry offer of £29 for the ferry to Holyhead, bus into Liverpool and a night's B&B in a swanky hotel. ![]()

The average American hasn't been able to afford to visit for at least 20 years because of the discrepancy in ticket prices and wages.

"€3 for a coffee in a garage, more expensive per litre than petrol or diesel. 80c for a coffee in Portugal. More money made in teas and coffee is garages than from fuel. I think the average station coffee machine turns over 200k plus. "The general principle is that if it is a product that you must have, for example energy, the price inflation will be high, but anything that involves an 'addiction' cigarettes, alcohol or an interest such as sport or concerts by famous artistes, the promoters can charge what they want because know fanatics will pay to view. The key is to minimise your demand for anything that can be exploited, where possible. " Avoid monopoly with strong but fair competition

"1984 and a pack of 18 cigs was £1 in a vending machine. No pound coin mechs at that time so it had to be 2x50ps. By 1992 that had jumped to £2.70 for packs of 16,17 or 18s. Circuit boards in some machines had a max price setting of £7.90. Just looked in the shop this morning and some brands are £13 and £14. Loose tobacco used to be £5 for 50g and is now £25. I'm glad I've never smoked. ![]() Omg, I never followed how much the prices gone up after I stopped smoking.

"What about communion and confirmation money Wedding presents....usually money Whats the going rate now " Last wedding I went to I gifted €200 (as a singleton). But it would very much depend on how well I know the person. That was my sister so I felt generous. Communion/confirmation again depends on how well I know them - a godchild gets €50, niece or nephew €30, anyone else €20.
