Information is so readily available since the WWW came onstream decades ago that April Fool pranks are very rare nowadays.

In the past, weekly papers that knew they would be published on 1st April on a particular year used to go to extraordinary lengths to fool their readerships: such as famous local landmarks being relocated locally, or having being sold to a wealthy American.
