I know I'm probably going to get some shots here for using the word genuine in my profile at times butt f****** hair balls. Are we overusing the word genuine and genuinely and real and normal and all these other f***** u* words in search of compatible partners on fab?

Given that the use of these words is probably a result of people feeling that they have chatted to less than genuine profiles, What's the alternative?

Im not on here very long about 6 months really even though I created my account 24 months ago

I find it very hard to chat with anyone worth while but I keep an open mind that the real people on here are very cautious and dont reply to anyone as it is full of madness. Id say most real and good people on here have their own groups for fun

They are like many other words people use to describe themselves such as nice or kind or discreet.

If you are constantly having to remind people you have met how nice or genuine you are then obviously you are projecting a different image.

To random strangers who prefer to make those judgement calls themselves it can be off-putting and up there with trying to sell yourself as an alpha.

I think this is one of the words that's unfairly picked on.

I've chatted to plenty of people with professional in theor profile that were completely down to earth and unassuming. I think alot of people put it down as an indicator that they are serious about their careers which to me is a good thing.

It's one if those that I think is read into more but the people who feel targeted by it than the people who actually wrote it.

On a broader note, as already mentioned, most labels are a waste of time in a profile they are completely subjective.

Genuine, professional, kind, good sense of humour, well hung.

Labels are generally a convenient(lazy) way of filling out a profile relatively quickly so one can quickly move on to the more enjoyable aspect of online dating/hookup sites, sending dick pictures.

I agree with what may have said here. Regardless of what you read in a bio, you should be talking to the person to get a better picture of who they are, rather than going by what they specifically curated.

I don't particularly worry too much about what's in a bio because ultimately you don't have to meet them if you don't like them after chatting a bit. Sure, no shows are annoying but that's a risk regardless of what they said in their bio haha

The general purpose of a label on a profile is to attract a certain type of person, or to put off a certain type of person.

Logically, if someone is looking for someone who is in paid employment, then why woukd they not just put that down? Or that you aren't interested in anyone who is unemployed? Using the word 'professional' to sum that situation up seems like they are leaving themselves open to misinterpretation.
