I've had to do this twice in the last few months and the only escape was into nature and all its distractions. Don't know what your interests are so it's difficult to suggest anything else.

"If you can put your finger "in" it....you’re sorted." Yes, I think so too.

" Thanks but I've buried someone very close and had friends around, looking for something out of the ordinary I guess , just can put my finger in it at the moment " Condolences on your recent loss. Could you do something that you might have done with this person previously? Would that appeal? Or, might you get a massage? You are probably holding a lot in your body. Hope you find something suitable.

I think getting back into your body, after a loss like that would be very good for your nervous system. So, a cold water swim, sauna, hot tub, massage..? All of these can change your mood.

In my youthful innocence many years ago I failed to understand that when the priest was talking about praying, what he actually meant was preying.

"I'm sorry for your loss, OP. Losing a loved one is devastating! Take your time grieving. Everyone grieves differently. The most important thing is to allow yourself to grieve - cry those tears, allow that anger and frustration out, constructively. I was once given advice to schedule times for grieving, remembering, in order to not allow grief to take life over either because you do have to keep living and I'm sure that you, as well as the loved one you lost, want you to live the best life you can. Ask yourself what you want to achieve by doing a different activity this weekend? Do you want to forget, be distracted or do you want to remember and choose an activity based on your aim. Going back to nature is always therapeutic. As is looking after your body. The Irish countryside has a lot to offer and there are lots of alternative therapists out there who can help you through grief holistically (mind, body and soul). You mentioned you don't know yet what but you will find your answer, I'm sure. I wish you all the best through this process " Beautiful, thoughtful reply.

" Thank you all , Just feeling lost and sorry for myself probably shouldn't have posted on forum but thank you again , much appreciated . " And it's ok to feel lost, it's ok to feel sorry for yourself. Your feelings are valid. Acknowledge them, accept them. Give yourself time. Posting in a relatively anonymous forum can work either way - against you or for you. You've gotten a lot of helpful and kind feedback. See how you can use it to move forward. I hope you have a support network. And there are always helplines too. Speaking with someone who is impartial and has a certain amount of training can help across the worst times, a kind listening ear without judgement. And seeing the response here has hopefully sent a little light your way.
