Most meets have been blind as far as the social coffee first

Some meets have skipped the social part first

I've done it on numerous occasions.

It hasn't been a problem for me but I'm not overly bothered about how someone looks. I've often been attracted to people who don't fit the "beautiful" tag. The ability to hold a good conversation and have a good attitude can often be more powerful than looks.

Yep. Quite a few social meets but only after chatting for a while. Looks aren't everything... thankfully

For socials in a nice public place it'd be fine. But for other meets it'd have to be on a case by case basis I think.

Well I won’t be do a blind meet, one time enough, I was so disappointed , first or all I have to pick him up at his house estate, then when he land his ass wearing tracksuit trousers covering in paint on the seat of my car , immediately my excitement gone low as possible. Then he insure me that I’ll have great time, so at the end it was disaster.

We have done yes ,always a social meet first tho anyway as any pics people send can be misleading .If theres a good connection with chatting then we would meet socially without seeing their face pics .

City Centre, Dublin

You don’t look at the mantelpiece whilst you’re poking the fire

So if their bodies are rocking then horse on with the blind meet and try to stifle your vomit until it gets hot n heavy

Agree completely

You can often tell from the profile and the chat that it will probably be fine and yes the mystery of not knowing what they look like only adds to the excitement

Of course

It adds to the excitement of a first meet

If I sent my face pic to everyone I’d never get a meet

Antrim Town

I have in the past for coffee meets, not everyone has accurate details on their profile, we all want to appear a bit more attractive whether it be height, weight, age, not everyones comfortable sending recent face pics, I've no issue doing so in the future too, it's only for a coffee after all, fun stuff can be discussed and arranged then if both are happy to continue.

As I do social only meets at first I have no problem with this. I've often forgotten to ask for a pic until I'm at the cafe/bar and wondering who to look out for. Lol

I'll only ever meet for a social first time and I've never yet gone to meet someone with any expectation beyond spending an hour or so chatting over coffee so facepics aren't important.

I could be chatting to someone for weeks or months before meeting so by that stage I've already decided I like them enough to meet up.

Sometimes we might exchange facepics just so we will recognise each other but more often than not we won't.

Very interesting yes it’s the excitement of it all I’ve only done it recently enough and the thrill was great but the nerves were going mad

Like one poster said they don’t share face pics online I don’t either unless it’s Snapchat as it’s a lot more safer but it can turn a lot off when you say Snapchat live pic

But I have to admit blind dates are a thrill I never thought I’d do and certainly pats off if well verified

We're living happily in the moment until we cannot do so any longer

I'd actually say all bar maybe one or two of the (admittedly few) meets I've had, I hadn't seen their face/they hadn't seen mine.

I tend to have been chatting for a good while with someone before meeting. So I at least know they are sound and a bit of craic. There is that suspense/surprise element of it all too.

If the attraction isn't there, I can still honestly just really enjoy a social cuppa and a laugh without anything further happening. If the attraction is there and leads on to a follow up and more, happy days...
