Had a coffee meet lately ... lady had sent face and body pics ... I'm guessing it was from years ago !!!!

Why do people fake it, filter it , and frankly fuck it up with this craic? Anyone else encounter this and how did you handle it . ?

Yeah,it's total bollocks. Makes things very awkward too. Never forget meeting a Belfast lady and actually being speechless.

I realised soon enough that she didn't see a problem with filters, photo shop and altering pictures. I got the sense from her that she was oblivious to the catfishing nature of it.

Because every 2nd picture on social media seems to have modifications people seem accepting that it's not an issue.

Totally agree. Even on dating apps I won't select anybody with filter pics which unfortunately narrows down my options considerably.

He didn't really give any details.of the meet other than she didn't look like what she portrayed.

It wasn't OK meet. It's not very interesting if I'm being totally honest and also a bit awkward. The part for me is she wasn't slightly outside of my type but very outside of my type and having talked to her and seen pictures I didn't believe this was the case that's why I agreed to meet. Ah Look I don't regret it it's just a bit disappointing it's all

Years ago I knew of a woman then in her 40’s who was using a profile photo, scanned from a print photo no less, that she took in her late teens. You wouldn’t mind but she was really good looking regardless of age, maybe more so.

Hotpics are a good learning ground to spot filtering and photoshoping and to read the remaining signs of age and shape.

It seems standard these days to have 'revised' pictures of oneself on social media. It raises the question how much it also does distort your own self-image.

There used to be a woman on here who was a regular on hotpics and very popular.

I was advised by at least two other women to avoid her like the plague because not only were her pics heavily filtered but she was using pics of her younger sister.

She was 10 years below my age filter so I was already avoiding her in that way and had never spoken to her even through the forums but apparently lots of others were obsessed with how she presented herself so I'm not surprised she hasn't been here in a while if she was getting that sort of feedback and/or abuse.

1 I would care less what other women on fab were saying to be honest there can be a lot of bitchiness on here I'm sure you know. That's the bit that makes it really awkward. If someone has portrayed themselves to look different than they do then it's hard to tell them that you have an issue with their looks because you know that they are insecure about them. People should just be honest and not put each other in these f***** u* situations. At the same time there are many ways to walk away without anyone having to get hurt I think.

I've met a few from here and they look absolutely nothing like their photos. I let it go with one or two because they were good company and good fun but for the rest I just finished the social meet and let it fizzle out or tell them out straight that I wasn't interested.

One woman looks hot as fuck in her body and face photos with all the filters and clever angles but you wouldn't recognize her if you met her even when she's done up.

I doubt that. I would say the same about all Fabbers I've chatted to for a while and then met in person. They never look like I envisaged, even if I've seen a face pic. Sometimes I've been pleasantly surprised

I don't lie about what I look like at all. I make it pretty clear I'm a larger lady (size 20) and am well aware I'm not everyone's cup of tea. Face pic wise I've only sent them to those who I've actually met, zero filters and I like to throw in an old make up free pics just so they know I'm a catfish with make up on
