We all know that verifications are a must but very often I find they can be overly flattering which I guess is understandable particularly if the person giving the verification has had sex with the person they are verifying. After all who would say I just had sex with A or M and he was a total pig or she was a minger.

Got me wondering so what are your experiences with veris ? How truthful and cutting are you in the veris you leave ? Have you ever left a bad veri or even received one ?

Never given or received a play verification. All except one have been based on a coffee or a group social meet and are as specific as possible.

The only one that is different is from my FWB and it was done as a nod to knowing each other 3 years and mine for her was in a similar tone.

Didn't occur to me that people would do this honestly. Just got my first verif maybe I should have asked them to tone it down in case it's too much to believe

I would rather not leave a verification than leave a false one. For my very first social meet, I didn't leave one, as I was annoyed that the person had told a significant lie, yet had glowing verifications.

Personally, I always ask if a person would like a verification, or not. I don't have an expectation for one in return. Re. the content, I don't like anything too explicit, or to read anything a bit O.T.T.

In practice, verifications don't serve us as well as I would like... Nobody would display a bad one and only so much trust can be put in them. Also, as much as I think they are somewhat necessary in this world, they remind me of scoring a person out of 10, which isn't something I would be a fan of.

I am honest in the verifications I do leave. It's basically your impression of the person and the time you spent with them isn't it?

If someone wants to highlight every little detail of a meet, so be it. Glowing references eh?

Mine are 100% accurate, but what I might find attractive in one person someone else might not like so I think you need to make up your own mind.

Attraction is different for everyone, I've met guys that other people have verified and I wonder what they see that i don't and I'm sure plenty have thought sane about me.

For me a veri means they turn up when they supposed to, are polite and cam hold a conversation as for anything further I'll make own mind up.

This is a great point, just because the sexual chemistry between two people is there doesn't mean it will be between them and anyone else.

Though I suppose a lot of good verifs does imply a certain level of consistency

Any I give are how I felt at the time of giving them, I tend not to give multiple veris as it seems a bit redundant repeating yourself.

Funny story, I did get about 3 veris from a couple I met once, but I think it was a mix up as it was after a party and they may have lost track of who they had verified.

The only veri I've ever received that I never displayed was on a previous profile.

I was in a fab hiking group with about 40 people in it and around 30 of those turned up for the first walk.

The next day I got a verification from a guy who wasn't there and wasn't even in the group but was claiming he had been. He verified numerous others and nobody had any idea who he was.

That was bad enough but he verified me as a very sexy lady and he looked forward to spending more time with me in the future

This is exactly it. A few verifications means they exist, they're on the scene, and will probably show up for a social meet.

Verifications are helpful.

For me, I am probably interested in who they might know / have met as (that I might know?) as much as the actual content.

In some cases, verifications will probably influence how I approach chatting - e.g. for unverified or minimally verified couples, I would look for evidence early on that herself is involved (or even exists!!), before divulging too much.

(& This is going to sound terrible, but), for me, there's also a bit of comfort when chatting/meeting well verified, because in my head they 'get it' - are used to the scene, what its all about & I suppose there could be less drama. (But as I said - that's not necessarily reality. That's just in my own head)

But yes, I like to put a bit of thought into verifications. I also only like to verify after some level of 'physical naughtiness' as opposed to after meeting someone for 90 seconds on the way down to the toilet at DV8

Oh, and I try to be careful with spelling (and be truthful...not truthfull

Veri's ,to me ,only prove that a person exists, you have no control over what a person puts in these veri's, some people don't want veri's , some people want veri's to open other doors ( ie prove they're real and to contact other people ) so it's a mixed bag when it comes to veri's but it makes things easier if you have them than not , if a person wants a veri they get one if they don't want one that has to be respected too , like anything , it all depends on the person involved. Veri's are something that can be shown on not shown.

I try to always leave a truthful veri but I don’t really expect any single veri to be truthful on a profile I look at.

I think veris are important if you take them as a whole - if they consistently tell the same story then you can probably take that story as the truth.

Mine are truthful but not graphic. There is no point in giving a bad veri as they won't show it anyhow and all it does is add to their veri count.So I would rather not give one than give one that isn't truthful.In saying that there are a few people I wish I hadn't veried in hindsight but that's just the way of fab really,things change.

I take veris with a pinch of salt anyhow all they show is someone showed up and what one person thinks is an amazing person others could think they are a complete cockwomble.

I always leave a truthful verification myself and would rather not leave one than lie.

I’ve only been back on fab the last few weeks and I’ve learnt they mean nothing else other than the person exists

Example 1. Man with lots of verifications saying what a gentleman blah blah - met me outside a café, said he needed to use the bathroom and left me standing there. Then when I tried to message him he had blocked me

Example 2. Man who had a couple of veris sent me a face pic but something didn’t add up so I reverse image searched and it was a pic from POF france lol

Veris are just like window dressing.. Gives a eye of what's inside but you could be dissapointed or dazzled. I do read veris, just to see if they're human or not... Personally I don't like overly sex description in veris. It's a choice to display or not anyway.

I 100% agree with this.

The main purpose of verifications is to filter out fake profiles and/or maintain reliability. I have come across well-verified accounts where the couple divorced/broke up, and the male half kept the account, pretending to be a couple, or a hacked profile doing the same. Therefore, fresh verifications from other active accounts are always a good sign.

The secondary purpose of verifications, I believe, is flirting and maintaining connections. People generally do not write negative verifications, and if they do, the receiver won't display it anyway. Therefore, if the experience was bad, they simply won't write anything at all. However, these are unwritten rules that not everyone knows or agrees with, so there can be some exceptions.
