Could you ever have envisaged a scenario whereby Johhny Rotten would have represented Ireland at the Eurovision Song Contest.

It is so ridiculous that it almost seems like a plot for Father Ted, with My Lovely Horse, as the doomed entry.

Has the Eurovision been anything other than slightly farcical for decades now?

It's actually way less of a joke than it used to be... with acts going on to have a lot more commercial success recently

I'm not entirely sure it would make a difference if Ireland sent Bruce Springsteen, the fact of the matter is the Eurovision is gone two political now, last year's winner is a perfect example

Johnny Rotten's song is beautiful. A tribute to his wife with dementia.

I had the misfortune to catch irelands entry on the radio yesterday.... if that's the calibre of song representing us then it's not politics we have to blame for a poor showing

Our entry is forgettable, it'll get lost in the semis. The choices on Friday weren't great though and the live sound mix was poor.

I think they should ask Niall Horan to enter it next year.

The Eurovision is what it is , Ireland won it a few times with songs that have stood the test of time , great songs , there's no one can tell me that " Rock n Roll kids " was a bad song , to me it was the greatest ever Irish song to win it and hey Abba didn't fare too bad out of winning it , ok that's just two but being honest it has lost its gloss over the years and the general public don't pay as much interest as before but the people that do partake in it do, to them it's mega and a huge deal to whoever wins it .
