I'd take January over March any time. January is dark and cold, so you can't do much, and you KNOW you can't do much. March pretends to be nicer and friendly, but it's a lie: it's still cold and miserable!

March is my birthday, night away in a lovely hotel booked and hosting my first evening social so it will be a good one this year

March..in like a lion ..out like a lamb .or is it the other way round ..either way I'd take March over January any time ..in Ireland the weather doesn't get warm until around the end of April tbh so to me the weather is cold until then and certainly don't expect it any other way .
