Will be our first time over there this August for Ironman Ireland. Anyone with local knowledge give us any recommendations for bars, restaurants etc. Will need to carb load on Friday and Saturday before the event on Sunday. Cheers guys xx

I did the race the first year, but all I can remember is enjoying the sun, stuffing my face and drinking pints on the terrace in Clancys bar, overlooking the beach the next day. Good luck!!

Getting excited now. We travel a week tomorrow. Just hoping that the weather will be kind on Sunday 20th. Looking forward to experiencing the legendary support around the course.

Manchester City Centre

Just be careful and not to try to re-take your 17th June picture while there.

This could definitely stop traffic for hours

I’ve done the race twice, so lots of knowledge on the course. And also on places to eat, drink, celebrate.

Can’t message you unfortunately, but pm if you want and have any questions

One question we did have was about car parking on race day in Youghal. Are there any car parks near transition that we can get into in the early hours of Sunday and park for the day?

We'll be coming in from Garryvoe that morning and the roads won't have been closed at 5am.

Yes, there will be a car park available for athletes at that time. It’s on the Cork side of Youghal, so you’ll be fine

Roma grill, fish and chip shop beside post office. Best in Cork, good price, great owners and staff, can sit in. Will make adjustments to the menu.

Best bar for drinking is JD's next to the clock tower.

The Red Store to eat and drink is quite good, plenty of room, nice owners.

The Marine Bar and Hennessey's after 9pm for live music.

Clancy's as well for somewhere to eat and drink.

The Marine Bar and Clancy's have a shuttle bus to get to them on the edge of town.

Any questions, just PM.

How is the weather looking for Sunday? Just had the race briefing and everything is starting to feel a lot more real and happening now. Nervously excited.

Long shot......Would anyone living in Youghal have a parking space available on their drive or elsewhere from Sunday 5am ish onwards? Would happily pay a fee for the privilege of having the car in town. Cheers.
