No....not some of the fab video's but actual horror films to watch

Not a fan of the horror porn like Saw

Prefer films that sometimes just frighten the bejaysus out of you with a good scene

I'm going to watch again a film that was one of my favorites growing up

An American Werewolf In London

Sexy,funny and sometimes scary

Can you remember any from your youth or even lately

Watch the Exorcist I & III. Forget about II, its pants.

We all know about the original but few know the 3rd one. It's a direct sequel to the original story and stars George C Scott and Brad Dourif, as well as the guy who played the Young priest in the original. Also, it's directed by the guy who wrote the books.

Definitely worth a look.

The Devils Doorway. It’s based in a mother and baby home in the 50s/60s or thereabouts. Definitely worth a watch if you can find it. Was on Netflix but doesn’t seem to be there now.

The best horrors for me are those where suggestion/atmosphere rather than the visuals create the terror:

- Birdbox

- What lies beneath

- The Sixth Sense

... being a few. Any recommendations for similar types are welcome. Mrs

I spilled a cup of tea all over myself when the young lad popped up out of the coffin near the start. After a while I felt brave enough to get another one, then "the master" appeared at the window.

Two cups of tea all over me on the same night!

I actually spilt tea over myself too when Mr Barlow showed his ugly mug!! Still the scariest movie I've ever watched. But the original It movie with Tim Currie as pennywise is a very close second

I watched Salem's Lot a few years later, while staying alone in a bedsit in Dublin at Halloween. The atmosphere was perfect but it had aged badly tbh. I was really disappointed with it.

I find horrors that are based on a true story to be the most mind fucks and scariest. I would recommend The Strangers as one such. I only ever watched it once because I split with the Mrs and she tool the dvd but I remember watching it feeling really uneasy and on high alert for the rest of the night.

Hammer house of horrors was a regular watch on Saturday nights for us when I was a child. Mum and dad were out.

Addicted to horror. Don't think we go a couples of days without watching.

Halloween

Friday The 13th

Jaws

Salems Lot

It Follows

Texas Chainsaw

Scream

Fright Night

Lost Boys

Lust For A Vampire

Vampire Lovers

Monster Squad

Exorcist

Devil's Rejects

House Of 1000 Corpses

Evil Dead

American Werewolf In London

And that's even before you get into all the so bad they are good horror movies.

You could be on to something there BM. But no hot food or drinks allowed. The screams need to be because of the film and not due to a randomly flung cup of scalding tea or flying sausage roll

The Exorcist, that I have only ever watched once, in 1974, was by far the most terrifying horror film ever made. Haunting!

Others pale into insignificance, in comparison.

I saw the day of the triffids as a kid that creeped the crap out of me. Saw it a couple of years ago and it's so bad I can't believe it ever scared me.

I would recommend watching the original Japanese version subtitles and all of the ring. Because your concentrating on subtitles it really does scare you.

Horror is not a genre I enjoy, but I agree with this post. Exorcist III is an overlooked classic.

Yup, a direct sequel to the original. Very psychological and chilling. With a scene to rival the “head” bit from Jaws… In as much as, no matter how many times you see it, it still gets you…

Simple horror is the best. The newer ones rely too much on visual effects to hang a poor story off.

Best are

John Carpenter's The Thing.

Train to Busan.

The shining.

George Romero's Dawn of the Dead.
