Oh yeah, I always pick up my cans of or Pepsi from there. 20 cans for 10 quid, that is just a very good value, isn't it ?

I don't know about the rest of their products though, so not much to plan there.

Jokulsarlon Glacier, Blue(Sky) lagoon, South Coast -Vik Beach & Reynosfiara Beach are good shouts. Then of course there's the strongman history if either of ye would be interested in that side of things. Hoping to go back around June to see more

If going half board do make sure ya feed up at breakfast time and take a lunch with ya. Eating out is brutal. Oh and get some vodka to take on the duty free there. Price of booze is £££££

Agree with this. If you like a tipple make sure you purchase in the duty free before you get there!!

If you want to see the Northern Lights or take pics of them you will need a real camera that you can adjust the settings on.

Mobiles are useless for it.

Harpa concert hall - good for pics

Perlan - an ice museum. You can walk through a slice of an actual glacier. There was a free bus to it from the centre of town near the Harpa concert hall but might have stopped.

The flea market is rubbish.

We went for the Silfra Fissure snorkeling experience with dive.is and it was brilliant. Not cheap but once in a lifetime.

And like mentioned above: load up on breakfast. Coffee is cheap but nothing else is.

We went in October and while it's risky because of the weather, it's definitely more quiet. If we were to go again, we'd go in September. Slightly longer days but not as busy as May-August.

We had a b&b deal at the hotel so had a long long leisurely breakfast to fuel up, a hot choc or something at lunchtime and just bought dinner so saved a fortune

Had a few friends go and, as you can see, the costs of literally everything is exorbitant, even run of the mill things such as water, soft drinks, water, chocolates etc.

On alcohol, even off sales are OTT expensive and sale times of them are severely limited. Supermarkets don't sell alcohol; you need to find one of their semi state offies, and go early as they close early. No McDonald's either but you can get penguin and seal burgers at local takeaways. Allegedly.

Get local currency immediately you get over there as their Krona is not easy got elsewhere; similarly get rid of it before you leave. Oh, and clear your credit card and ensure a good overdraft on your current account as you'll piss through the money in no time if you aren't careful.

Off season the cold will be biting so pack water and windproof wear for your our of door trips. Oddly enough, streets are warm due to geo energy; the only thing that is cheap there!

Lastly, bring lots of batteries and chargers for your cameras as the scenery is to behold.

It’s definitely worth a visit. I recommend stopping off at the blue lagoon after you arrive as you’ll be passing by on the way into Reykjavik and it’s very relaxing post flight.

Rent a car if you can as you’ll get to see more of the island but the tours are very good. I would also add to the above list Gullfoss waterfall and the original site of the Althing the worlds oldest Parliament. You can see where the North American and European tectonic plates have drifted apart.

People love to party from 6pm Friday to 5am Sunday morning but outside that the pubs are very quiet. Bar 11 if still open was very lively and had live bands playing.

Enjoy your trip it’s a great spot

As it hasn’t been mentioned yet, and the other things mentioned are well worth doing and seeing, The Penis Museum (The Icelandic Phallalogical Museum) in Reykjavik is a must. A collection of just about every mammalian penis. From the large (Blue Whale) to the very small (Guinea Pig). I giggled like a school kid throughout. It’s so funny.

Saw it years ago on Eurotrash! And made a note that if I ever got to Iceland I’d go. It’s unique. It’s interesting but mostly it’s amusing.

Yes, as there's only one off licence in 101 (city centre) which closes at 7pm and doesnt open at all Sunday

It's a bad sign that I know it opens at 11am on Monday

Ah yes, the Blue Lagoon, forgot to mention it.

The slippers and dressing gowns they offer aren't cheap but if you are spending the day and getting in and out you'll need something. It's freezing after all

There's a better version of it in the North called Myvatn Nature Baths if you are planning on going up that way

Don't know if your into CrossFit but CrossFit Reykjavik is where the legend Annie Thorrisdottir trains, she co-owns the gym. Its about 20 quid to do a drop in class. Of course if you don't do crossfit you will have no idea wtf I'm on about Hahaha.

It really is, wouldn’t change if for anything, as everyone has been saying lots of good and true advice most bars have happy hour until at least 1900 so you can find cheaper drinks, but I would say for sure get some duty free if you enjoy a good tipple, scenery is everywhere here it’s amazing, lots to do when is it your coming ? And feel free to drop me a message if you need any more info

It's amazing. Expensive so bring lots of money. Hotel Loftleider is where I stayed. Twice. You can hire a car and go see Gullfloss Falls and Geyser. Also a must is the Blue Lagoon but book in advance. Good nightlife on Reykjavik too. Also head south to see Skogafoss waterfall. Highway 1 from Reykjavik. Also lava fields. Lots to see. Very beautiful women.
