"In real life situations are either positive or negative in the way they impact on you. Trying to play out something in your head as being positive when it is manifestly negative is mearly fantasy and escapism. Better to accept the negative situation and deal with it. Trying to change it in your head won't change it in the real world. I am now telling myself that there will be a positive reaction to this post. " Any situation can be turned into a positive if you can see it as a learning experience

You have the choice of how you react to a situation. It may not change the situation itself but can change how you feel about it.

I prefer to work towards changing the negative situation or remove myself from its influence if I am not in a position to change it. I feel this is better than trying to hide from he truth with some "in my head" fairytale scenario. A practical personality and an engineering background lead me to seek workable solutions to problems. If something is a negative you won't change it by imagining it is a positive or worse still that it doesn't exist. You may feel positive about it but its still a big ol negative. Change it in reality and it will no longer be a negative so no need for any internalising.

"We built our own kitchen, my only advice is stop now and call a professional before it’s too late hahahahaha not a right angle in sight. " Ours will 100% be the same. I've even got a neighbour who is a kitchen fitter... but no. I HAVE to listen to the overconfident voice telling me I can do it all on my own.
