I got a new wooden one from IKEA a while ago. Wood glue, rubber washers and plenty of L shaped brackets and it'll take whatever 2/3 people throw at it.

A bed I had a long time ago used to squeek a lot so I loosened up the joints, put car grease into it, tightened it up and wasn't a sound out of it again.

If you have divan bed then I dunno what you can do with them.

If it's a timber frame it's the dry wood rubbing (no pun intended) that makes the noise.

Try talcum powder on the joints. Also works for creaky stairs or wooden floors.

We drilled our headboard into the wall so it’s all fixed in place. The mattress and bed we have is nice and quite

I did see a tik tok where parents placed those pool noodles behind headboard to stop the banging

Just throw the mattress on the floor.

Failing that, ditch the beefcake and buy an inflatable bed. They are awesome and water/oil-proof

Like others have said if it's a timber frame tighten up the fixings or maybe add additional brackets to it if it's old.

Memory foam mattresses also help as less movement with them.

Rubber door stops between the headboard and the wall is also a cheap and effective fix.

Newry Down

I have a completely silent bed: remove any legs and let base rest flat on the floor, preferably on a carpet or large thick mat.

Put a good quality thick synthetic mattress topper between the mattress and the base, to smooth out any lumps and bumps.

If there is a headboard, ensure it does not knock off the wall; set the bed away from wall.

If the base is slatted, reglue and screw after drilling holes to stop wood from splitting.

If the slats are too thin the replace with much thicker slats and more of them to suit weight of occupants.

Incrementally solve each noise issue thoroughly and you will eventually have a totally quiet bed and bedroom, as I have had for years.

Crucially, if the internal springs of the mattress are noisy, this cannot be cured; get a new mattress.

My personal opinion is that memoryfoam mattresses are too warm and collapse; a sprung mattress breathes better and is much more durable.

Years ago I had a water bed; very very heavy and are easily damaged, but supremely comfortable!

Watch the Steptoe and Son episode about the waterbed which is very funny. The latter is a comedy that was first broadcast on the BBC in 1962!

I built my own bed out of inch and a half steel pipes and key clamp fittings, with reclaimed timbers from a trawler used for the head and footboards. The slats were fixed to runners bolted to the main frame rails.

It weighs a tonne but it does not move, therefore it does not creak!

Portstewart

You need a buffer between every joint around 1/4 inch of rubber between each joint on the main frame and if you have slats change to a sheet of mdf with multiple supports down the centre of it

50ml of WD40 twice a day after food. And apply lube generously before sex.
