Is trying out new craft beers the equivalent of alcoholic beverage swinging?

Lots to choose from but not always readily available, have to travel to taste and often best enjoyed in a nice hotel.

Some I have met:-

White Stag stout

Knockmealdown stout

Howling Gale

Devil's Helles

Black Donkey (aka Banshee Beer..lol)

Belfast Black.

Judging by the lack of interest in this thread I can only suppose that most people on here must be Guness and Heino types who are far less adventurous in their choice of beer than in their choice of sexual pastimes.

As with safe sex ....... always drink responsibly.

I do enjoy a few crafties and love trying out new ones. Few highlights of the past couple of years being being Black's Kinsale pale ale, Connemara's Irish Ale, Brú Tropical IPA, and Arcadia Kolsch by Wicklow Wolf. Always make a point when abroad of seeing what local craft brews are available too.

Dundalk(ish)

Boyne and Brehon Brewhouses are two to look out for from the border counties. Brehon's Ulster Black is a great oatmeal stout.

On the stout thing - I've never liked stout. Can't stomach a Guinness / Beamish / Murphy's. But one Christmas a few years back someone gifted me a McGargle's set which included their stout, and I liked it. The only ever stout where I've got past the first sip and actually finished it.

Got a gift box of 12 beers from the Crafty Brewing Company off a customer at Xmas, some very nice pale ale and Belgian lagers in it, I was pleasantly surprised. Belgium make some amazing beer in my opinion.

Belgium Ales for the win. Pretty strong but so good. Chimay, Duvel, La Trappe, Chouffee, Kwak etc… are all delishhhh. I’d limit myself to maybe one or two max. Best enjoyed as a treat

Dont think Duvel, Chimay and Kwak qualify as craft beers since they are industrially brewed. Dont know about the other ones. Belgian beer also give you tremendous hangover if consumed in amount larger than couple of pints

The West

Have tried so many over the years, lager, ales and stouts. I've never found one that would replace a good pint of Guinness.

Some people go mad for them, I wouldn't thank you for one!!

I’m happy with a Guinness

Mid Meath

Craft beer to me is generally like comparing silk lingerie to Penney's knickers. Far tastier and while a little dearer, less is definitely more.
