It seems nobody cooks but you're all into plumbing, insulation and electrics .

About as much interest in a cookery thread as me actually carrying the darn thing in from the car!

I watched that and I don't agree with your interpretation.

It is only unhealthier for starchy foods (like potatoes) if you don't follow the preparation advice (storing at room temperature and washing in lots of water prior to cooking) as well as following certain advice on cooking time and temp to avoid high levels of acrylamide developing in these foods.

The levels of saturated fat and trans fats were hugely reduced, as well as foods being lower in calories due to less oil being used.

There's pros and cons there for everyone to make a decision on - IF they have informed themselves appropriately . Thank you for sharing. It has certainly given me a little more insight

Chicken wings, Frank's hot sauce heated with a knob of butter, toss the wings in some garlic and lemon seasoning, chuck the wings in the air fryer for 16-20 mins. When done, coat them in baking powder and lash them back in for 6-8 mins. Take out and pour the flanks hot sauce over them. Thank me later

I thought that's what a microwave is for .

I purchased a relatively inexpensive one, which was massively reduced because people around me have been going on and on about it. I'll give it a try and if I don't like it, it'll be going to the recycling along with other bad ideas .

In fairness, I purchased a waffle/sandwich maker from Lidl a few months ago - the waffles are a huge hit with my children (my own recipe, not the one from the leaflet, that's absolute shite!!! ) and the sandwich maker with himself (and my son) so a great investment all round .

Some things work, others don't - trial and error...

No worries .

The level of increase in acrylamide is so high i would be of the opinion its far more likely to cause illness than a cooking method which dosnt .... Regarding carbs ... tbf that's what alot of people use air fryers for regularly , chips potatoes veg breaded meats pastires toasted bread etc..

I might add heating plastic to 180 degrees not great chemical leaking ... you can get a glass one .

I would eurge ye to dig a bit more into the true healthiness of air fryers .

Deep frying may be as healthy if not healthier if you only use oil once.

Having said that... not frying is probably best option .

Use it like an oven only quicker ... sheet of tinfoil . Drizzle of oil , bed of basil leaves.. sprinkle of chilli flakes .. salmon piece .. coat in light lakes or horse radish or mayo or mustard... sprinkle of breadcrumbs... bit of salt and pepper .

Wrap tinfoil like a tent/parcel so it doesn't touch fish and can steam in its own juices ... yummy

Got a 3in1 waffle/toasties/panini one here and the toastie using the Panini plates are excellent. I do bread, butter, Dijon mustard, cheese, chopped Christmas ham, chopped tomatoes and onions, cheese, Dijon mustard, butter, bread and they are done in about 5mins without the hard edges and middle cut that the sandwich plates cause. Absolutely delicious

Mine has just arrived today after lots of indecision, just to give it a go I've done some Tesco's frozen fries in it and they were really fabulous.

I'm amazed how good.

Now I'm going alone properly how to use it.
