Myself and 2 friends are going to Dublin for NYE. We’ve been told that people don’t really dress up much so we are a bit unsure if people dress up for NYE or not. We don’t want to go out over dressed lol. Anyone able to advise?

Hey Welshydee how are you? I’m from Dublin myself and anytime I’m out in town women and men are always dressed up wether it’s New Year’s Eve or a normal weekend. Guys usually in trousers, shirt and shoes and the women are always dressed up looking sexy. Have a great new year wish I could join you ??

First of all.....warm clothes and comfortable boots or shoes.

Smart casual is standard ...not necessarily all dressed up.....

Temple bar is over rated and pricy. It you want some Irish music try Pipers Corner, Marlborough St off O'Connell st about 15 walk from Temple Bar, no food good drink.

Cobblestone in Smithfield, great music good fun about 1/2 hour walk from Temple Bar.

The Brazen Head lower bridge st Usher Quay on Liffey good food, drinks and craic about 15 min up from Temple Bar.

If you pm me I'll can give more info

Whatever you decide to dress up elegant or casuel, don't forget to wear red lingerie

Why red lingerie? Unfortunately that’s not going to be possible with my outfit

Does it mean you'll wear white colour??

Red lingerie is to attract the good luck

Have fun while you're over Dee, I'm sure you'll all have a great weekend. New Year's Eve used to be a crazy and overhyped nonsense, but I think everyone is just happy to be out again enjoying themselves!

Like others have said - avoid Temple Bar, it's an overpriced clutch of tourist traps! There are plenty of much better pubs and clubs across the city.
