The big thaw comes on Sunday with very heavy rain and temperatures, both day and night, into double digits.

Monday is also warm and wet, thankfully.

Temperature differential over a few days will be almost 23°C, which is an amazing swing in temp' from abnormally cold to almost balmy, in December.

Definitely one for the weather diary; I have already marked it up, next to the section of broken copper pipe from my attic in 2010, that I have fixed to the board beside my attic hatch to remind me just how close I can to disaster in 2010, if I had not switched off the main stop cock valve under the kitchen sink.

Ground is still frozen solid even though frost has cleared will take until Tuesday to thaw out properly
