Has any fabber had to deal with an infatuated stalker with whom you had a brief relationship, but that later turned sinister?

Years ago I had an intense fling with an extremely attractive woman, who then ended the relationship but used to frequently turn up at my home in the middle of the night, follow me to places she knew I would be, and also contact people I did some minor business with.

I never went to the police but I never admitted her to my home during the night; I simply could not trust her.

Is simply ignoring such a stalking situation and hoping the problem will go away, sufficient?

I think I havrvread that a large number of people are stalked nowadays, by former romantic partners, to a greater or lesser extent.
